19th March, 2019: In a recent announcement, Bhartiya Skill Development University signed a MoU with Jharkhand Skill Development Mission on 10th January 2019. BSDU would actively support in developing and enhancement of curriculum for all courses, develop course content, curriculum and delivery mechanism, soft skill elements like financial literacy, communication, business development, personality development and employability skills, aid in design of innovative courses related to self-employment and entrepreneurship. Following this, a study delegation was nominated by the state of Jharkhand to visit BSDU to further understand the model of Skill University and the scale at which it could be implemented in state. The discussion revolved around BSDU training the trainers in Jharkhand, developing and enhancing skills curriculum and facilitating student exchange between Jharkhand and BSDU.
On the recent visit of the delegation, Dr. Brig. SS Pabla, Vice Chancellor, BSDU said, “The state of Jharkhand aims to introduce 8 new skills colleges. BSDU shall play an important role in skilling the state of Jharkhand by utilizing existing colleges affiliated to the universities in the State, fostering one or two skill programs in each of these colleges and by utilising existing infrastructure and equipment in addition to essential laboratories and machinery within the state. One of our key objectives will be to assist JSDMS through research-based initiatives which include understanding the future trends in skills ecosystem, to boost the wage employment and self-employment in the State. In short, BSDU’s role will be to establish and hand hold these colleges from inception to completion.
Mr. Amarnath Kumar Jha, CEO, JSDMS said, “We have been extremely impressed with the scale at which BSDU has been skilling young candidates to be more capable and employable. We have been in talks with BSDU to replicate its model of skill development in the state of Jharkhand. Under its recent policy, the state government of Jharkhand has planned to open one Government owned skill university and 4 skill universities under the public-private-partnership model. BSDU would actively support JSDMS with technical support in establishing high quality training infrastructure. We are glad to be associated with BSDU and look forward to its support in establishing the first skill University in the state of Jharkhand.”
