Palaj, Gandhinagar: Prof Sudhir K Jain has re-joined as the Director of the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) for the third term today morning. Prof Amit Prashant, who was Officiating Director of the Institute, handed over the responsibility to Prof Sudhir Jain.
Sharing his excitement and vision for the Institute upon resuming the office, Prof Jain said, “I am thrilled and honoured to rejoin the Institute today as its director, and am looking forward to work with our faculty, staff, students and alumni once again on the next phase of IITGN’s evolution as an institute of national and global repute. During its first decade, IITGN developed a distinct identity and established an impressive reputation for many of its innovations. Apart from further building upon these tremendous assets, we will work on our strategic vision for the new decade; to fully realise IITGN’s promise and potential for excellence in learning, creativity, research and public service.”
Attributing the success of IITGN to the whole IITGN community, he said, “IITGN’s success thus far is a tribute to the collaborative work of its dedicated faculty, staff, administrators, students, alumni and friends of the Institute. I am excited about partnering with them all once again as we collectively push the envelope to take the Institute to ever greater heights.”
Prof Sudhir K Jain, the founding director of IIT Gandhinagar, was reappointed for a third consecutive term as director of the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar. His appointment for five years was approved by the President of India in his capacity as Visitor of IITGN. Under Prof Jain’s leadership, IITGN has developed a national reputation for its academic innovations, such as the five-week immersion Foundation Programme for incoming undergraduates, interdisciplinarity, project-oriented learning, emphasis on the liberal arts, globalisation, etc.
