The Fellow Programme in Management is a doctoral-level program offered by the Goa Institute of Management, to equip aspirants with deep domain knowledge of the management stream of their choice. Upon successful completion of this course, you can expect to become a Subject Matter Expert and excel in your career path of leadership in public/private sectors or academia.
This 4-year residential program is split into carefully designed 8 terms, optimally balancing the learning needs of the candidates as well as real-life requirements in the industry.
This is evidenced in the flow and structure of the entire program.
- GIM recognizes that not all applicants come with a master’s in management. Hence, there are 6 foundation courses to level the learning field for all. Two of these can be traded off if the students demonstrate existent proficiency in them.
- This high degree of flexibility is complemented by the development of a strong foundation in research methodology. Helpful courses are introduced early on (in the first 2 semesters) to lay the foundation for excellence in future research and related publication activities.
- Another unique attribute of GIM’s FMP course is that it allows candidates to choose from different PGDM core courses and electives, to customise their learning curriculum. The course itself is so structured that it provides ample accommodation in the overall syllabus, credits, and learning outcomes.
- GIM allows its scholars to indulge in research activities across various streams, such as:
- Accounting
- Finance
- Economics
- Big Data Analytics
- Human Resource Management
- Healthcare Management
- Information Technology
- Marketing
- Operations
- Organisational Behaviour
- Public Policy
- Strategic Management
- Research activity is further backed by seminar courses that help to further engage in the domains of interest of different candidates. More focus is laid upon generic topics in the early part of the course, with seminar topics and research methodologies becoming more domain intensive as the course progresses in its life cycle.
- Learning isn’t truly complete without exposure to actual, real-life situations. With this in mind, GIM allows FPM scholars to engage in roles of teaching assistant, pedagogical training, and develop curriculum building, course designing, and case writing skills.
To summarise, using a well-defined course structure that balances theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical experience and a credit system that takes into stock the overall, wholesome, performance of individuals; GIM aims to instill the following best-in-class competencies in their FPM scholars, that makes them feel empowered to be the leaders of change in their chosen field of work.
