You are asked to sit for the mains only if you clear the prelims. The pattern of the two papers may vary to a certain length. Therefore, you must do thorough research regarding the same.

  1. Scan through the syllabus of the exam

Once you’ve understood the pattern of the paper, you must know the syllabus for the various sections of the paper. There may be a slight difference between the common sections of the prelims and the mains. Know the topics thoroughly, work on each section with utmost diligence.

  1. Frame a study plan

Frame a study plan using the varied resources at hand and you will ace the examination if you manage and organize the time and syllabus efficiently.

  1. Mocks tests are a key

Mock tests are like original examinations. They are timed and consist of questions that are alike to the ones that you may encounter on the day of the examination. There are various resources available online that provide you with free mock tests to attempt. They provide you with an analysis of the sections that require more work concerning concepts as well as timings. You can work on your speed and accuracy following how you perform during a mock test.

The Don’ts during the preparation of the IBPS Clerk exam consists of:

  1. Losing insight into your goal

IBPS Clerk exam can be a tough one. Do not lose sight of why you are taking this exam. Write down on a piece of paper all the reasons behind your decision to take this exam. State the life goals that you are aiming for and why. Write down the reasons as to why this exam is so important to you. Read these reasons when you feel you’re being distracted or moving away from your goal. This will remind you why you started this in the first place and where you wish to be in the future.

  1. Underconfidence or doubting yourself

Do not doubt your ability as to what you’re capable of achieving. More often than not, when you are preparing for any such examination, you tend to lose patience which thereby leads to a lack of confidence. Ups and downs are going to be a part of the phase. One day you’ll be the most productive person, performing to the best of your ability, other days may not be so happy, cheerful, and satisfying. You need to be confident throughout the process for achieving the best score in the exam.

  1. Take relevant breaks

Do not exhaust yourself with the multiple resources that you carry with you. Take relevant breaks when needed. Spend time with your family. Meet your friends every once in a while. This will keep you refreshed and you will gain more motivation and insight as to why you’re doing and who all are there to always support you. Spending time with the people who are forever there to cheer for you and your goals and accomplishments can inculcate a sense of satisfaction, gratitude, and motivation that cannot be found elsewhere.

  1. Do not compare yourself with others

If you are acquainted with the people who are preparing for the same exam as you, it is good to relate and suggest and get their opinions. Sometimes they can prove very helpful but do not by any chance compare yourself with them. Two individuals hold different methods, abilities, and even the main goals. This may just be a single step in common. They might hold different strong points than you and that does not mean you are weak. You have your strong points. Comparing yourself to others will only lead you to deviate from the point of focus and you shall lose insight into what matters.

  1. Do not crib

Do not crib while you prepare for the paper. The syllabus can be vast and extended but cribbing through it will prove more harm than good. Anything that is done alongside cribbing is not done the right way. It is therefore important that you maintain your calm and peace while focusing on what is important. Undergoing the fear of missing out will just frustrate you more and lead to more cribbing while you are not missing out on anything, you are just prioritizing your future goals.
