In today’s world of cut-throat competition in every sector you can imagine, having an effectively strong resume is important to make you stand out from the rest. A resume these days is not just a piece of paper that validates your achievements and credentials, it has lately become something that represents you. But making a resume that speaks for you in a clear manner is difficult. Here we list for you some of the points that will help you make the whole process easier.

1. Make your resume inclusive and succinct:

A resume is best when it helps you get into interviews. It is a fundamental function a resume has to perform. For it to be result-oriented make sure to clearly include all your achievements, work history and your performance in different jobs you have worked previously in an organized manner. This gives the company you are applying for a good insight into you. While mentioning all these details it is imperative that you don’t fill your resume with clutter that makes it cumbersome for anyone to read. Keep it to the point so that you don’t make it look like an essay because sometimes an interviewer just wants to skim through your resume. Writing with brevity is the key.

2. What makes you important:

The important element of any perfect resume is that it should speak on your behalf. It should include all the points that make you fit the job description. Preliminary stage or a first step to get into any kind of job is to speak from a point of strength. Mention what makes you relevant. It is an essential factor to keep in mind while writing your resume. It subsequently helps you to ascend the next steps with significant ease because your prospective employer gets to understand who your importance for the job is and lets them assess clearly as to how well you are going to fit in the industry.

3. Highlight your achievements:

If you have worked on different projects that enhance your work profile it is important to highlight them. It makes your resume stand out from your peers and will increase your chances of achieving significant results. If you have leadership qualities and you have previously headed a team that has successfully achieved the desired results mention that in bold texts. Even if you have been conferred awards for your performance highlight that too.

4. Don’t be verbose or dense:

While writing your resume make sure you don’t become verbose or use language that makes it difficult for anyone to get to the end of your profile and prompts them to skip reading it. Keep it simple and to the point. Enlist your experience and achievements separately one by one which makes it convenient for any eye to read. We are always tempted to digress to make an impression on the employer but it is important that you do not write content or information that is not relevant to the job description.

5. Technical Skills:

Each one of us comes from a different educational background or worked for companies or organisations that do not necessarily deal with technological matters. But in day to day workings, we tend to gather information about workings of different software, take short term courses or software diplomas. Mention your tech skills. Preferably, in a different column other than your education and experience. It spares the company a substantial amount of time by giving new employees and those newly hired guys the training required to run different company software. The organisation can use this time in dealing with important matters and increase the productivity of the work.

7. Review and update:

Sometimes take a break from your routine work and check whether your resume needs an update. It is in your best interests to keep it in sync with your current profile and not let it grow stale. It helps your chances of landing in a job that you dream. Check it for clarity, proper usage of words or grammatical errors you might have done. Your profile should be fresh with updated information.

After you are done making your resume and sending it to different companies you can get a call for an interview. It is important to prepare yourself. When you sit in front of the interviewing committee and if you are getting hired for an internship, they might ask you, why should you be hired for this internship? If you are getting interviewed for an examination, they might pose this question, why should you be hired for the toughest exams in India?
