Mumbai: High speed free Wi-Fi services provided by Google and RailTel with support of Indian Railways is gaining traction. Till date this facility is available in 15 stations in India, which was first inaugurated at Mumbai Central station in January 2016. Surprisingly, each week three lakh users are logging in through this network from 15 railways stations across India.
Guwahati station has just became the 15th train station in India to offer Google’s free, high-speed Wi-Fi service. Allahabad, Jaipur, Patna and Ujjain Junction, are the recent stations that have high-speed Wi-Fi service facility.
Based on the surging demand at Mumbai Central, the first station that came online in January, Google is also working with RailTel and Indian Railways to extend the project to cover 17 of the busiest suburban stations across Mumbai. This is definitely good news to Mumbaikars, as these stations will include Bandra Terminus, Borivali, Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus, Churchgate, Dadar, Kalyan, Kurla, Panvel, Thane and Vashi.
