Asia Pacific Institute of Management (AIM), New Delhi organized an Industrial Visit for Management Students at Safe Express, GURUGRAM. This visit was mainly focused on understanding the process involved by large distributors in home appliances, vehicle parts, Engineering & Electrical Hardware & Consumer Electronics, food services, pharmacy, and medical supplies which can establish periodic shipment methods with the vendors. The visit was organized under the guidance of Dr. ShipraJha and Dr. MustafizulHaque faculty of AIM.
During the visit, students were split into various groups. Sanish Mathews, Gaurav, M.S. Gothwal Manager of Safe Express explained the facilities available inside the center, their methods of receiving and maintaining the warehouse, different tools or equipment used for the transferring, loading, sending to different destinations, and their storage to a closed unit. He also explained to students about the maintenance of the equipment and ethics considered during loading and receiving of items or goods, adequate supervision and trained staff and advanced equipment, and a suitable environment.
Faculty guide Dr. Shipra said “Industrial Visits provide an opportunity to learn practically through interaction, working methods, and employment practices. It gives the students exposure to current work practices as opposed to theoretical knowledge. Whereas Dr. Mustafizul HaqueSaid, “Industrial visits are now part of the Holistic Educational process. Industrial Visits eliminate Misconceptions, Reduce the learning Gap, and encourage active learning”.
Most of the students describe the visit a great practical exposure and shared their learning experience with the Director of the institute Dr. Balram Rao. The overall visit helped Students in understanding the whole logistics and supply chain management including Express Distribution and Third Party Logistics [TPL].
