VARANASI : For the over 40,000 strong community of BHU, several services and useful information about Banaras Hindu University are just a tap away through the varsity’s mobile app, ‘Namaste BHU’. The app has been recently launched at the initiative of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain with an aim to boost the digital connectivity within the university as well as make services and information more accessible and user friendly. The endeavor marks a significant milestone towards offering a smooth and hassle free campus experience to students and faculty members, as reiterated time and again by Prof. Jain.

The app, which can be downloaded through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, offers a series of services to students and staff besides providing important information to the users. These include the information of faculties, departments, and programs of study offered by them, directory of the university with names, designations, emails, and phone numbers of key officials, teachers, and staff. Additionally, the app allows the users to search among the books, journals, and millions of e-resources to look for their desired one and save on precious time and efforts. Students have also been given the option to register their grievances regarding admission, fee, exam, and other issues and seek redressal. Wardens can also raise hostel related complaints using the app. Emergency contact numbers of the university as well as the local administration have been displayed on Namaste BHU.

Prof. Sanjay Kumar, Coordinator, Institution of Eminence – BHU, said, “The newly launched mobile app by Banaras Hindu University, is designed to streamline access to essential university information, including academic details, library, holidays, and emergency contacts. This initiative, under the IoE, enhances digital connectivity and services for students and faculty alike. He informed that a dedicated team is constantly working on upgrading the app.

Mr. T V Prabhakaran, Consultant, who is leading the Namaste BHU app team, informed that several more features will be available on the app very soon. We are working on developing some other services, including counseling for students and making all important notifications visible to the users, said Mr. Prabhakaran.

Users with their registered mobile number with the university can make their account on the app and start using it. Banaras Hindu University is among the handful of higher educational institutions that have come up with such an initiative, hence, facilitating smooth internal communication as well as access to information and services.
