In a survey conducted by The WorldGrad, a tech enabled study abroad platform for undergraduates, it is found that 53% students rated their satisfaction with the board results as either 4 or 5 with 5 being extremely satisfied.  On the other hand, 24% students rated 1 or 2, 1 being extremely dissatisfied. About a third of the students were also considering re-assessment with proportion nearly 52% of those who chose ratings 3 or below and 23% of those with rating 4 or 5. The survey was rolled out to 16000 students to assess their study abroad decisions, owing to the delay in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) 12 results. 70% of the students also acknowledged that their plans to study overseas have been delayed due to the late release of the results.

The CBSE declared class 12 results on July 30, 2021. With a 99.37% pass rate, this was the best results till date for CBSE, 10% higher than 2020 and 16% higher than 2019. However, a high pass rate hasn’t translated into higher satisfaction amongst students. Some of the issues identified through the survey indicate that students feel their improvements in class 12 have been undermined by past performance and that weaker students may have benefitted more than the top performers. Students who are not satisfied with the marks can appear for the exam which will be held from August 16 to September 15. The marks scored in this exam will be considered absolute for them. There is no additional fee for students who want to take the exam to improve their scores. This exam also considers students who have been placed in the compartment category or could not qualify in either of the subjects.  An earlier survey conducted by The WorldGrad in June had indicated that 60% of the students were weary of using internal school marks for final analysis.

Talking about the survey and adding to this, Abhinav Mital, Founder of The WorldGrad said “This is new for everyone, and we expected conflicting opinions from students as well. Their entire higher education depends on these scores and how universities across the globe perceive them. We had already started pre-enrolment as soon as the delay was announced, this allowed a lot of our study abroad aspirants to enrol in advance, irrespective of their results. Continuing this, we are keeping the enrollment open for students who are still toying with the idea of enrolling for studies abroad this year.”  The WorldGrad onboards students right after 12th for their higher education abroad. For this they do not need to fly or travel abroad immediately; they can choose to take their first semester or first year online, and then join their campus accordingly. Owing to the delay in the 12th results, a lot of study abroad aspirants had shown concerns around their admission, to which The WorldGrad announced the program to pre-enrol students awaiting results.
