New Delhi:  Master Degree in Technology & Engineering is popularly known as MTech.  Industry offers lucrative career options to MTech degree holders.  There are more than 1.8 Lakh candidates have enrolled in MTech programmes (including all years/semesters and all streams) in India, as per AISHE (All India Survey on Higher Education) 2018-19 report.

The share of female students in MTech programmes is just 37% while more than 67.5  thousand female candidates enrolled for Master in Engineering & Technology programmes in 2018-19. More than 1.14 lakh students were male candidates.

Civil, Mechanical, Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering are the most favorite streams for MTech students. As per AISHE 2018-19, more than 36,000 candidates have enrolled in Civil Engineering branch, which saw highest number of candidates among all branches of engineering and technology.

After Civil, Mechanical has emerged as second most choice for MTech students with total enrolment of nearly 30,000 candidates. Computer Science branch saw third highest students with nearly 29,000  candidates.

Electronics saw fourth highest number of candidates with 27,000 candidates. A total of nearly 2,000 candidates enrolled in Electrical Engineering branch for MTech degree programme.

Other branches such as Information Technology, Architecture, Chemical, Metallurgical Engineering, Aeronautical, Mining Engineering, others have seen less than five thousand candidates in MTech.
