Ranchi: The Induction Programme for the MBA, MBA-BA, MBA-HR, and PhD batches of 2023 has been successfully completed. The closing ceremony marked a significant milestone in the student’s academic journey and highlighted their readiness to embark on an enriching and transformative learning experience. The students of the 2023 batch represent 23 states.
The students were exposed to various activities during the Induction Programme, including interactive sessions, case studies, workshops, industry interactions, and cultural events. Esteemed faculty members, industry experts, and alums shared their insights and experiences, inspiring the students to think critically, embrace innovation, and develop leadership abilities.
During the Management Marathon session, students were divided into 16 groups of 25 members. The teams came up with a variety of out-of-the-box interpretations during this process, ranging from the importance of proper planning in agriculture, and events like farewells and weddings, case studies of different airlines and their management practices, a take on management through the Mahabharata way of storytelling, the importance of managing chaos during elections and its importance in resource allocation, a variety of games and snack stalls and a human library giving us examples to explain the importance of management in every part of life through the examples of Dorabji Tata, a typical housewife, MS Dhoni, and the Dabbawaala system.
Prof. Amarendu Nandy gave a talk on the 13-year journey of IIM Ranchi. The journey of IIM Ranchi began on 15th December 2009 as the ninth IIM (of 20) in the country. He spoke on how the journey has been not only of transformative experiences but also of endless sacrifices. IIM Ranchi, as its mission, aims to educate and support future leaders, professional managers, and entrepreneurs; and carry out research, publication, consultancy, and advisory work to advance new knowledge and innovation and provide thought leadership in management theory and practice. The values of IIM Ranchi – Honesty, Humility, and Hard work are aptly captured by the logo. Prof Nandy also spoke about the Executive MBA programme launched in the Hyderabad Campus of IIM Ranchi. Prof. Nandy concluded by speaking on the several spheres of life at IIM Ranchi, the academic and extracurricular achievements, and the student initiatives. Prof. Gaurav Marathe continued by talking about the 2-year journey ahead, consisting of both struggle, hard work, and memories created.
Prof. Pradip Kumar Bala, Dean- Academic Affairs & Development, and Prof. Ankur Jha, Chairperson MBA programme, awarded prizes to the winners of the Ten Challenges during the 3-day induction programme.
Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Director, IIM Ranchi, delivered an inspiring address, sharing humorous happenings and highlighting the importance of ideas and timely actions. The determinant of success in management is being ready to face any change in the environment, taking hold of the opportunities as and when they appear, and competing not to win but be unique. Prof. Srivastava proceeded by talking about the culture of B-Schools in India and the strategic plan, ‘IIM Ranchi@2030.’ He expressed his confidence in the capabilities of the incoming students and encouraged them to embrace challenges, pursue excellence, and foster a spirit of lifelong learning.
The closing ceremony concluded on a high note with a sense of anticipation and excitement among the students. As they embark on their academic journey, the new batch of MBA, MBA-BA, MBA-HR, and PhD students of IIM Ranchi is poised to make significant contributions to the business world and leave a lasting impact on society. As the MBA, MBA-BA, MBA-HR, and PhD batches of 2023 officially commence their academic journey at IIM Ranchi, the institute extends its best wishes and support to each student.
