The new academic session for 2022-23 at Assam down town University (AdtU) commenced today for the newly enrolled students of the students under various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The campus was abuzz with orientation activities as fresh new faces with a tinge of nervousness, and filled with a mixture of anxiety and anticipation, flocked in to register their names with the designated Faculty and Department of their respective study programmes. They were also provided opportunities to select the Hobby Clubs of their choice from a wide range of options ranging from Music, Drama, Dance, to Photography, Sports, Yoga, etc. The Honourable Chancellor and Pro-Vice Chancellor as well as other faculty member and senior students made the students feel at ease. As a goodwill gesture, each student was presented with a rose as a memento.
The Assam down town University is set atop gently rolling hills and is blessed with a 50-acre eco-friendly greenery-filled campus having pristine views in the backdrop. It forms the setting for a centre of learning that imparts a first-class college education to undergraduates and postgraduates in the region. There is a diverse array of study programmes (60 +) to choose from, under various Faculty, such as Engineering & Technology, Paramedical Sciences, Commerce & Management, Humanities & Social Sciences, and the Biological Sciences, offering diploma, graduate, and postgraduate degrees with the support of its 250+ qualified faculty members.
The curriculum of the university is frequently updated in line with the current market trends and scientific advancements as is evident from the recent up gradation of the MBA in Healthcare Management course structure to incorporate much-needed up-to-date inputs of the latest changes and advancements in this field. In line with this ethos, the Physiotherapy department of AdtU was among the first in the state of Assam to recently incorporate specialised labs to provide practical learning facilities to students of the department, such as the Gait Lab, Electromyography Studies Lab and Pulmonary Function Test Lab with Spirometer.
The induction of several academicians from across the country, having a wide gamut of experience in teaching and research is set to boost the academic environment further, and students will benefit from the cross-pollination of ideas due to the cosmopolitan makeup of the fraternity. The on-going partnership with universities in Bangladesh and other countries has promoted student and faculty exchange programmes that is now bearing fruit in providing a wider perspective and a wholesome exposure to the teaching-learning process.
AdtU is also making great strides in the research and development field where several start-ups have benefited with funding and seed money through the efforts of the down town Venture Labs. Some exciting developments are underway to ignite the entrepreneurial spirit among the students and faculty. There is a lot to look forward to at AdtU and the student community will find much inspiration from the active life at the campus. AdtU has announced the last date of admission for the session 2022-23 as 30-Sep-22.
