First Astronomy Lab in Guwahati at down town School

On  the downtown school, Guwahati, successfully inaugurated the astronomy lab for the very first time in Guwahati. The  down town school has collaborated with Spark Astronomy in setting up the Astronomy Lab. This infrastructure is one of the first of its kind in Assam, ushering in a revolutionary way to impart knowledge on the subject of Astronomy to inspire school students to delve deeper into the mysteries of the cosmos.

The Lab is equipped with working models of the Spectroscope, solar goggles, 3D surface model of the moon and Mars, solar & lunar eclipse, solar system, compound telescope, Galileo telescope, and many more.

There are infographics, LED fitted wall hanging models, virtual reality boxes, 4D educational augmented reality-based kits, fun facts posters, moon phase annual calendar, etc.

The Lab also houses the basic-level, intermediate-level, and advanced-level Newtonian Refractor & Reflector Telescopes.

The library stores several encyclopaedias about the milky way, satellites, planets, stars, etc.

The life-sized photos of the famous astronauts having an Indian connection, namely, Rakesh Sharma, Kalpana Chawla, and Sunita Williams accompanied by their biographies adorn the walls of the Lab.

A renowned space enthusiast and Civil Engineer Mr Nishant Tathagat gave a resourceful training on star gazing today .He has worked on multiple projects with Navaratna NBCC formerly known as National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited.

Currently, he is working with Spark Astronomy as a Research Development Manager where he is responsible for searching for dark night sky spots across India, undertaking projects in places like Ladakh and conducting workshops and training in various schools and institutions of India.

Spark Astronomy is a dedicated team of entrepreneurs and space enthusiasts incorporated in 2018 in New Delhi. Spark Astronomy has worked with NITI Aayog – as the Policy think tank of Govt. of India on developing the astronomy Curriculum and spreading awareness about Space Science in India.

It is also working as a Principal Scientific Adviser Office to The Prime Minister of India and set up labs in Jammu, Leh and Kargil region.

Daily routines are designed in a way to make them grasp the benefits of experiential learning to develop a high intelligent quotient so that all students have ample opportunity to pursue their interests in addition to schoolwork.
