Hindi Pakhwada organized at IIM Jammu

Jammu: The Hindi Rajbhasha committee of IIM Jammu organized a Hindi Pakhwada in the Campus from the 14th Sept to 29th Sept 2023. The programme organized on this occasion included debate competition etc. The Hindi Pakhwada was organized to celebrate the importance of “Hindi language” along with creating awareness about its use in daily life.

Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, said “Hindi is one language which can be spoken across the country and students should be taught the importance of the language. We are happy to host the Hindi Pakhwada on the Campus and the students, faculty and staff have actively participated in various competitions which were held during the event. At IIM Jammu, we give due importance to implement the Rajbhasha Policies of the Govt. of India.”

Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu, said, “Hindi is a universal language which can be spoken across the country and students should be taught the importance of the language. I would like to congratulate all the participants on this occasion and urge all the faculty, officers and staff of the institute to do more and more work in “Hindi” and maintain the nobility of the language.”

Sh. Arun Agarwal, Dy. Director General, Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India, “I would also like to emphasize the simplicity, mellowness, and power of Hindi as a language. I always encourage and recommend everyone to make Hindi a part of their daily office routine. We have been diligently and successfully implementing the Rajbhasha Policies of the Govt. of India.”

A Hindi Debate competition was organized by Dept of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Govt. of India along with IIM Jammu was organized on the subject “मोबाइल क्रांति का सामाजिक संबंधों पर प्रभाव –सकारात्मक/नकारात्मक।” and actively participated in by the students at the Institute.  Various other programmes were organized during the Pakhwada.

The participants were divided into two teams where Team no.1 consisted of Himanshi Nassa, Nirjhar Sharma and Anshul and Team no. 2 consisted of Peeyush Inawati, Shree Aryan Swain and Palash Arora. The panelists consisted of Sh. Arun Agarwal, Dy. Director General, Sh. Pracheesh Khanna, Deputy Director General from Department of Telecommunications, Dr. Jai Kamal, Assistant Professor and assisted by Sh. Abhay Kumar Awasthi, AAO from IIM Jammu.

The debate continued with the significance of digital literacy. The students emphasized the significance of appropriate mobile phone use in promoting ethical standards and for personal and professional growth. In this digital age, it is essential for humans to remain updated while also conducting their daily responsibilities and jobs. Therefore, the students emphasized establishing a balance between essential and recreational functions of a mobile phone.

The panel concluded by reaching consensus on the following points: mobile phones help with staying connected, staying current, and education, but they also affect our health Therefore, educating citizens about cyberbullying, and providing mobile phones to the marginalized society to promote inclusion has become essential.

Cash Prizes and Certificates were distributed to the winners of the Debate Competition. The first prize winner was Palash Arora (MBA22212), Himanshi Nassa (IPM23040) and Nirjhar Sharma (MBA22079). The event was graced by the faculty, officers, staff members and students at the Institute. The event was coordinated by Hindi Rajbhasha in coordination with Student Council of IIM Jammu.
