Jammu: Indian Institute Management (IIM) Jammu celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti in a grand manner with patriotic fervor. On the eve of this auspicious occasion, Research, Teaching, Academic, and Employee Excellence awards were given to the esteemed faculty, officers, and staff of the Institute. A plantation drive was also organized on this eve and actively participated by the faculty, officers, and staff of the Institute.  The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp followed by the floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri to commemorate the birth anniversaries of both Indian Icons. The event was presided over by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu says, “Non-violence, truth, and sacrifice are the basic doctrines of Gandhian and Shastriji’s philosophy. The Mahatma, a great thinker, a philosopher, and the father of our nation, continues to be the epitome of great leadership, and simplicity. Shri Lal Bahadur Shastriji, a great statesman and second Prime Minister of India is always remembered for his slogan Jai Jawan! Jai Kisan! which reverberates even today through the length and breadth of the country. On the auspicious occasion of Ashtami and the birth anniversaries of these Indian legends, I urge everyone present here to continue to derive inspiration from these great personalities who left an indelible mark on the lives of every Indian. On this occasion, he asked each one of them to stand up and work towards the prosperity of the nation”.

Adding further, he said, “IIM Jammu has always been the frontrunner and valued the contribution of its workforce and on the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti. Every year we have acknowledged the invaluable contribution of our employees to the Institute. On this eve, we have conducted a massive plantation drive with a firm commitment to a green and sustainable environment inside our Campus. I would on this occasion would take this opportunity to attribute the fast-paced growth of our Institute to our employees (faculty, officers, and staff) who have relentlessly contributed to the growth and progress of the Institute on all fronts including the recent 36th rank in the NIRF Rankings 2022 in the management category.”

The Research Excellence Award 2021-2022 was given to Dr. Vaseem Akram, Prof. Jabir Ali, Dr. Ateeque Shaikh, and the research incentives were given to Dr. Sujeet Kumar Singh, Dr. Nitin Upadhyay, Dr. Rashmi Ranjan Parida, Dr. Kulwinder Kaur, Dr. Prateek Jain, Dr. Mahesh Gadekar, Dr. Sarabjeet Singh, Dr. Baljeet Singh, Dr. Muqbil Burhan, Dr. Abhishek Srivastava, Dr. Nageshwar Reddy, and Late Prof. Manoj Kumar.

The Academic Excellence Award for the year 2021-2022 was given to Prof. Jabir Ali, Dr. Baljeet Singh, and Dr. Muqbil Burhan for all the faculty who were graded outstanding on a scale of 4.5 and above. The Excellence in Teaching award for the year 2021-2022 was given to Dr. Ateeque Shaikh,  Dr. Prateek Jain, Dr. Baljeet Singh and Dr. Sarabjeet Singh,

The award for Employee Excellence for the year 2021-2022 was given to Cmdr Kesavan Baskkaran (R), Shri Shailesh K. Lohiya, Shri CA Rajat Jain, Shri Arup Bhattacharya, Shri Jayaprakash Sivaswamy, Shri Shashank Mishra, Shri Roshan K Mishra, and Ms. Sakshi Jamwal. Letter of Appreciation, Shields, and Cheques were handed over to all the employees by Prof. B.S. Sahay on this occasion.

The event saw the active participation of the faculty, staff, their family members, and students at the Institute along with the cultural performances put forward by the students at the Institute to commemorate the birth anniversary of the great stalwarts of the Indian freedom revolution.
