CHENNAI : IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation has entered into a strategic partnership with the Jharkhand University of Technology (JUT) in Ranchi. The objective is to boost education, innovation and skill development ecosystems in deep-tech disciplines in Jharkhand
The key focus on this partnership will be on innovation, skill development, industry-academia collaboration and incubation support for nurturing start-ups.
Dr. MJ Shankar Raman, CEO, IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation, signed a MoU on 5th February 2024 with Dr. DK Singh, Vice Chancellor, Jharkhand University of Technology, towards this strategic partnership in the presence of Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, Prof. E. Balagurusamy, former Vice-Chancellor, Anna University, Chennai, and others
IITM Pravartak Technologies is a Section 8 Company housing the Technology Innovation Hub on Sensors, Networking, Actuators and Control Systems. It is funded by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, under its National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems and hosted by IIT Madras
Speaking about this partnership, Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, said, “This MoU will propel the Start-up Ecosystem in Jharkhand for creating the culture of innovation, startups and entrepreneurship. Jharkhand has abundant natural resources and collectively we can improve the economy and quality of technical education of Jharkhand.”
This MoU will establish the groundwork for fostering the development of Jharkhand University of Technology’s Research Park, facilitating collaboration between academia and industry, promoting research, innovation, and incubation. Together, we aim to contribute to the advancement of Jharkhand and moving towards Viksit Bharat 2047.”
Highlighting the unique aspects of this collaboration, Dr. D.K Singh, Vice Chancellor, Jharkhand University of Technology, said, “This MoU will create an ecosystem in Jharkhand for establishing a culture of innovation, start-ups and entrepreneurship. Jharkhand has abundant natural resources and collectively, we can improve the economy and the quality of technical education in Jharkhand.”
The key aspects of the partnership include leveraging IITM Pravartak’s skill development initiatives, facilitating connections between innovation hubs, exploring academic collaborations and providing support for incubatees. Further, this partnership will also assist industries and academic bodies seeking collaborations, facilitating tech commercialization initiatives, launching industry-relevant course programs, and participating in curriculum reform initiatives.
