Palakkad, Kerala : IIT Palakkad Technology IHub Foundation (IPTIF), a Section-8 company established by IIT Palakkad with Rs. 100 crore support from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, is providing a reliable platform for the technology based start-ups and entrepreneurs.

IIT Palakkad has established IPTIF to attract available nationwide potential and harness expertise, thus fostering class research innovation, technology and product development.

With its aim to work in close collaboration with the industry to deliver commercial, technology and products and build a vibrant innovation ecosystem, IPTIF is calling for applications from start-ups/ entrepreneurs for various programs and pitch events to provide mentorship/ incubation support. These include:

AARAMBH, a workshop-cum-pitch event

With a prize innovation grant of Rs. 15 Lakh, IPTIF in collaboration with the Technology Innovation Foundation of IIT Palakkad (TECHIN) are jointly calling for applications from start-ups/ entrepreneurs in a workshop-cum-pitch event being held from 30th October to 27th November 2021 to pitch their unique ideas on Intelligent Collaborative System (ICS) solutions for Safety and Energy.

Interested participants can pitch multi-disciplinary ideas in the fields including Robotics, Machine Learning, Software Engineering and Embedded Systems with hardware and software components and related topics.

Evaluation of the ideas will be based on:

  • Innovativeness
  • Technical Competence
  • Social Impact
  • Commercial Viability

IPTIF Entrepreneur-In-Residence (I-EIR) Program

With a vision to inspire the innovative entrepreneurs to pursue their start-up dreams, and get critical feedback/ support to promote their entrepreneurial goals and aspirations, IPTIF is calling applications from interested start-ups/ entrepreneurs for its Entrepreneurs-In-Residence (I-EIR) program.

I-EIR provides a prestigious forum to the deserving and budding entrepreneurs to pursue their ventures without any additional risk involved in technology-based business. This program also encourages enterprising individuals to venture out and pursue daring entrepreneurial ideas as well as enhance the quality of start-ups.

Other prominent support under the I-EIR program includes:

  • Co-working spaces for developing ideas into a marketable product
  • Rs. 30,000 stipend for a duration of 12 months
  • Technical and business mentorship from experiences engineers and entrepreneurs
  • Mentorship and handholding for activities related to IP management, legal and contract, mobilizing resources, and other business development related activities

Last date to apply is 1st November 2021.

The initial shortlisting of the teams/Individuals will be based on eligibility and suitability of the applicant to the program. Further evaluation of the shortlisted teams will be based on qualifying criteria such as innovation, deniability of idea, experience, among others

Applications from Women entrepreneurs, Innovators under the age of 30, and innovators with CPS technology business ideas that have considerable potential for social impact, will be given preference in the selection process.

Dr. Albert Sunny, Assistant Professor of IIT Palakkad and Director of IPTIF said, “IPTIF aspires to make our country a global leader in the domain of Cyber-physical Systems (CPS). To realize this, we plan to up-skill individuals at different technical levels, create various support systems for entrepreneurs and startups, and take up world-class R&D activities. While our goals seem daunting, I am confident that we can achieve them with support from our academia, Industry, and Government.”

Speaking about the goal of IPTIF, Mr. Harilal Bhaskar, General Manager, IPTIF said, “IPTIF hankers to make India a global leader in high technology by enhancing India’s competitiveness in Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). We will invest in and strengthen talent development, technology-based product development, and international collaboration, all of which will lead to long-term economic growth and job creation. Our goal is to provide a platform for efficiently connecting academia, industry, and suppliers. I am confident that we will be able to achieve them with the aid of our partners and stakeholders, including the government.”
