Delhi: Students from KIIT World School, Pitampura, embarked on an educational visit to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The visit aimed to immerse students in the field of sustainable farming, providing them with valuable hands-on experience and knowledge about modern agricultural practices.
During the educational visit, ICAR and its associated institutes showcased their latest technological innovations in agriculture. Highlights included an Agri-robot for efficient pesticide spraying and models demonstrating wastewater management techniques. Students were particularly fascinated by augmented reality experiences using virtual reality sets, which showed how drones are used to manage crops over large areas.
Furthermore, students toured the research farms and laboratories at ICAR, where they had the opportunity to interact with agricultural scientists. This direct engagement allowed students to observe cutting-edge research and understand the scientific processes behind sustainable farming. They learned about the judicious use of natural resources and techniques to reduce dependency on chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
Sangeeta Bhatia, Principal of KIIT World School, Pitampura, emphasized the significance of such educational trips. “Such educational visits are crucial for the holistic development of our students. They not only impart knowledge but also foster social and emotional skills. The ICAR trip provided our students with a unique opportunity to understand the importance and practical aspects of sustainable farming,” she stated.
The event also featured a career guidance session that provided students with information about educational and professional opportunities in agriculture. This session covered ICAR’s courses, the admission process, and various career options in the agricultural sector.
