West Bengal, India: Creating a historic benchmark by crossing 1600 plus offers in the Phase I of placement season 2022, IIT Kharagpur gears up to celebrate its 68th Convocation on December 24, 2022. Shri Peter Chan, Chief Executive Officer, Herons Bonsai Limited will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. Shri Rajendra Prasad Singh, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIT Kharagpur will also honour us with his presence. With prolific advancements, IIT Kharagpur is proud to bestow a Lifetime Achievement Award to Prof. BRIJ K. DHINDAW who served as the Teaching & Research Faculty in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department (Material Science Centre) from 1966 – 2009 at IIT Kharagpur. Nine Life Fellow of the Institute including Dr. Sudhir Jain, Vice Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University; Prof. Bayya Yegnanarayana, INSA Senior Scientist at IIT Hyderabad; Dr. Tapan Bagchi, Ex- Professor at IIT Kharagpur, Kanpur and Bombay; Prof. Ramchandra Prabhakar Gokarn, Ex-Professor of Naval Architecture & Ex-Dean at IIT Kharagpur; Prof. Parimal Pal Chaudhuri, (Retd.) Dept of Computer Science & Engineering, IIT Kharagpur; Prof. Dr. Uday K. Chatterjee, Adjunct Professor at IIEST Shibpur; Prof Brahma Deo, Ex-Professor, Materials Science & Engineering, IIT Kanpur; Dr. Madan Mohan Pandey, Served as CEO, Agrinnovate India Limited and Mr. Thachat Viswanath Narendran, CEO & Managing Director of Tata Steel Limited will be awarded along with 40 Distinguished Alumnus of the Institute. 9 students will be awarded the Institute gold medals in their respective field of study and 26 institute silver medals will be awarded to M.Tech, MCP, MBA, EMBA, LLM, and MHRM. The convocation will be followed by a cultural programme with a performance of celebrated artist Vidushi (Dr.) Ashwini Bhide Deshpande will be performing later in the evening.
