New Delhi : Odisha’s skill-based varsity, Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM), has been honoured with the Excellence in Education Award for being an Outstanding Private University in Eastern Region. The award was received by Centurion’s Director-of Admission & Marketing Sukanta Parida, in the presence of the office bearers of at least 150 universities, at the 6th edition of APAC Global Education & Skill Conclave. All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) Chairman TG Sitharaman presented the award to the university while the attendees at the event included Shobhit University Founder Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra and Association of Indian Universities Secretary General Dr (Mrs) Pankaj Mittal.
“Centurion has always believed in creating a learning environment where the students get adequate opportunity to chase excellence by honing their skills. We are thankful to all industry partners who facilitate our students to get hands on knowledge through on-campus manufacturing setups and advanced laboratories. The vision to create an industry-ready workforce has been the prime motto of Centurion since its inception, and it gives us great satisfaction to see our unparallel vision and out-of-the-box learning model getting accolades,” said Dr Supriya Pattanayak, Vice Chancellor, Centurion University, which also is the first Indian university to be recognized as a Center of Excellence by the Ministry of Skill Development.
The varsity’s Director of Admissions, Sukanta Parida joined a panel discussion themed on ‘Designing Digital Infrastructure & Outlining Roadmap for New Education Model’, wherein he emphasized on the need of skill-integrated higher education. He pointed that the key to digitalization in the country will be through a hybrid model where online theory classes and on-campus practical training go hand in hand. Action and experiential learning is the future of education and Centurion University is already doing it.
The university boasts of courses in Allied Health Sciences, Engineering, Technology, Media, Communication, Agriculture, Management, Forensic Science etc. With lateral entry through credit scores, students can take admission any time, and continue their education even after a long gap, ensuring that a student aspiring for PhD can pursue the same at their own pace. The university also emphasizes on creating entrepreneurs by providing them the right learning, thereby creating job providers and not just job seekers.
