Smiling Tree conducted a Plantation Drive at Delhi School Of Economics, Department of Commerce, DU, Delhi by planting Areca Palm plants in the campus area. Team Sankalp partnered with Smiling Tree and motivated students to participate in the Drive.

The main motive of planting saplings was to connect with the young generation and inspire them to take care of the environment for it to be green, pure, and clean. Environmentalist Dr. Mukesh Kwatra, founder of Smiling Tree, gave a brief insight into the different species of plants, how and where to plant them, and the right time to plant a particular species. He also told students that the Areca Palm plants being planted is one of the few plants recommended by NASA as the best air purifiers.

Dr. Kwatra said, “It is heart-warming to see so many young nature enthusiasts coming forward to plant. Make friends with the plants planted by you today and take care of them, and also adopt trees around you. Connecting with plants and nature will not only help reduce pollution but also provide relief from stress and anxiety.”

Dean Professor Dr.Ajay Kumar Singh expressed his gratitude and appreciation for Smiling Tree. In an address to the students, he said, “Green initiatives like the Smiling Tree play an important role in spreading awareness towards preservation and conservation of our environment. This tree plantation drive is part of our contribution to the ‘Go Green’ initiative of the Government of India, to combat the effects of global warming and reduce the impact of climate change. As an educational institute, we believe in doing everything possible towards maintaining the ecological balance, creating a sustainable society and a green environment for our future generations.”

Dean Professor Dr.Ajay Kumar Singh, Professor Urvashi Sharma, and other teachers, along with students planted over 100 Areca Palm plants in the campus area. Smiling Tree gifted all participants with ‘Live Gift’ – a Syngonium plant to carry with them.
