Hyderabad …….Telangana State’s first private university, Anurag University’s 17th Annual Day held at its campus in Medipally in the city on Saturday night.

Disclosing this in a press note issued in the city today, the University said, the unsung hero Gaddam Sammaiah, Chindu Yakshaganam theatre artist, and Padma Shri awardee from Jangoan in Telangana was the Chief Guest and addressed the 6000-plus gathering

He shared his journey of hailing from a humble background, with very little education, and how he has performed 19000 shows through which he addressed many social issues like total literacy, and environmental protection and promoted this ancient art.

Dr. Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, the founder of the Anurag Group shared the 25-year journey of the institution and how now it stands tall and provides 1000 placements a year.

Prof S. Ramachandram, Vice Chancellor highlighted the importance of all-round personality.  Theatre plays like Chindu Yakshaganam were the only entertainment in our generation where there were no TVs, Movies and the internet.

Dr Balaji Utla, Registrar giving an annual report said the University is now nationally reckoning, with a ranking in the range of 101-150 in the engineering category. The University with 11000 strength, and 504 faculty with 200 doctorates.

The University established a DST-funded laboratory on “Programmable wood processing tools” Under the DST- STI Hub scheme, Government of India. It also established Research Centres in various departments to promote collaborative research such as the Centre for VLSI chip Design- ECE- investing INR 32.4 lakhs; the Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Transportation with Rs 14 lakhs and the Centre for Environmental Sustainability with Rs 22 lakhs

Giving a few highlights of faculty advancements, Dr Balaji said, P Raja Sekhar Reddy who has been approved for a $10,000 grant from IBM under the IBM Watson Generative AI Faculty Award and Dr A. Mallikarjuna Reddy received a German Patent Granted for his innovative work entitled “An Intelligent System for Detecting Behavioral Cyber Attacks on Industrial IoT”, Dr V. Vishnu Vandana, HoD School of Management, was sanctioned with grant Rs. 13,00,000/- for “Women Entrepreneurship program “Under DST scheme, Government of India.

Anurag University in the last year entered into various MoUs and Collaborations with organizations like NAMAMI GANGE, Government of India, Kriss Motors, MSN labs, Sowbhagya Biotech, C-DAC, VEDA-IIT, Sahasra Agri-Tech and Multinational companies and many more for getting exposure to advanced and cutting-edge technologies.

The University received research grants to the tune of Rs.147 lakhs for the academic year 2023-2024. A total of 4 Research grants were approved from various government agencies for research in the fields of engineering, pharmacy and management. A total of 223 research papers were published in reputed national and international journals.
