Essential Qualification for Assistant Professor:
i) Good academic record as defined by the concerned University with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master Degree level in a relevant subject, along with relaxations applicable to specified categories, as explained in the Note 1(G.O. No. 516-Edn(U)/1U-91/10 dated, Kolkata the 16th May, 2017).
ii) The candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC (CSIR) or similar test accredited by the UGC like NET/SLET/SET, along with exemptions to specified categories, as explained in the Note 2 (G.O. No. 516-Edn(U)/1U-91/10 dated, Kolkata the 16th May, 2017).
A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the graduate and master’s level for the Scheduled Caste /Scheduled Tribe / OBC (Category A & B) / Differently-able (Physically, visually and differently-able) categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic record during direct recruitment to teaching positions.
