Kolkata:  West Bengal Public Service Commission has invited application forms from Indian Citizen and declared eligible from Government of India for 171 Assistant Professors. These posts are vacant in more than 30 departments or subjects.

The vacant Assistant Professor posts are in the General Degree colleges of the West Bengal Education Service Under The Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal. Also there are some vacant posts in Govt. Teachers Training Colleges in The West Bengal Education Service Under  The Higher Education Department, Government Of West Bengal.

Key Dates:  The Commencement of online applications  is 29 November 2019. Closing date for receipt of online application is 19 December 2019. Last date of payment of fees is 19 December 2019. Last date for payment of fees Offline in Branches of UBI is 20  December 2019. Last date for Generation of Payment Challans by Branches of UBI is 19 December 2019.

  1. Assistant Professor in Physical Education for Govt. B.P.Ed. Colleges In The West Bengal Education Service Under The Higher Education Department, Government Of West Bengal – Total Vacancy is Seven.
  2. Assistant Professor in the Following Subjects For Govt.Teachers Training Colleges In The West Bengal Education Service Under The Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal – Total Vacancy is 30.

Eligibility Conditions (General Stipulations (for the posts at sl. no. 1, 2 & 3):

The minimum requirements of a good academic record, 55% marks or an equivalent grade (Grade “B” B=Good: Grade Point 3.50 – 4.49; percentage equivalent: 55-64) in 7 point scale wherever grading system is followed at the Master’s level and qualifying in the National Eligibility Test (NET), or an accredited test (State Level Eligibility Test – SLET / SET), shall remain for the appointment of Assistant Professor.

(ii) National Eligibility Test (NET) / State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) / State Eligibility Test (SET) shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment of Assistant Professor.

Provided however that the candidates who are or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of National Eligibility Test (NET) / State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) / State Eligibility Test (SET) for recruitment of Assistant Professor.

A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the Graduate and Master’s level for the Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes / Differently-able (Physically and Visually differently-able) categories including Other Backward Classes (OBC) (non-creamy layer) for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic record during direct recruitment to teaching positions.

Age: AGE (for the posts at sl. no. 1 to 3): Not more than 40 (forty) years as on 01.01.2019 relaxable for certain categories as per rules.

Fee: FEE (for the posts at sl. no. 1 to 3): Rs. 210/- (Rupees two hundred ten) only
