1)A balanced work and family life: The office hours for an RBI assistant is from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM with a fixed weekend off. RBI offers holidays as per government standards. The work pressure is not much, and hence there is an assured work-life balance in this job profile.

2)Postings in metro cities: One of the best things about RBI Assistant jobs is that the assistants do not get transferred from their home branch until they have completed five years of service there. So, people with families can stay at a place for long as compared to their counterparts in other banks. In terms of postings and transfers, the additional benefit of working as an RBI assistant is that the employees do not have to worry about getting posted in a remote location of a rural area as RBI branches are present in metro cities only. The female employees are posted in their hometown, so it is an ideal job for those females, who have some constraints moving to other states.

3)Career growth: After serving as an RBI assistant for 2 years, the employee can appear for the internal examination. After clearing the examination, they will be promoted to officer rank and will get a hike and other facilities from the bank.

4)Transparent process of promotion: The process of promotion takes place after a period of two years of employment. There are two processes to get promoted to the rank of an officer:

a)Normal process: The assistant has to appear for the written examination, and on qualifying examination, the employee will get posted to the officer level based on his/her experience and level of seniority.

b)Merit-based process: The RBI assistant should hold a graduate or a postgraduate degree, along with two years of experience. To be considered for promotion to the officer rank, he/she has to clear the Junior Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers(JAIIB) and Certificate Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB) diploma examinations conducted by the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF).

5) No public dealings involved: The job of an RBI Assistant does not require any direct public dealing regularly. However, at times, the employees of RBI may have to participate in the information providing campaigns and spread information among the people about the bank policies.

Working in a public sector bank is viewed with high regard, and if the concerned job profile is of an RBI Assistant, the respect of the society reaches a new level. As the notification of RBI Assistant is still not out, those aspiring to be RBI Assistants have ample time in their hands to prepare strategically for the exam and bag a position as an RBI Assistant.
