National Technology Day is celebrated to recognize the innovations in technology that is creating a better India. This year, it is more contextual considering the challenges we are navigating due to COVID-19. From enabling remote working and collaboration to empowering banking, healthcare, education to function digitally, the developments have been a strong testimony to India’s Digital Prowess and Capabilities.

Technology is considered as a key factor for economic development. For the economy to grow at a sustainable rate, adopting the latest technologies that augment the business performance is essential along with upgrading the skills of the existing workforce. Like every year, since 1999, India observes May 11 as the National Technology Day – that aims to commemorate the scientific and technological achievements of Indian scientists and technocrats. Although the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact lives and livelihoods across the globe, it has also given rise to several opportunities and is making enterprises and individuals realize the power of digital like never before. India is experiencing a digital revolution backed by technology that is triggering transformative developments in areas like e-payments, digital literacy, financial inclusion, geographic mapping, rural development, much more.

As the world is scrambling to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, tech startups are helping to bridge the gap of how technology is helping  businesses to function smoothly and create job opportunities  during the Corona Crisis. The ongoing situation has accelerated the need to redefine existing job functions and related skill requirements to meet the skill gaps in the new remote working ecosystem. In this changing phase, tech based platforms are solving the problem by providing workforce to Indian Startups and enterprises.

BridgeLabz – Incepted in 2016, one of the largest IP-driven incubation labs BridgeLabz has so far groomed more than 2,000 engineers and contributed to their placement across leading IT companies. The talent incubator extends experiential learning to help students attain industry-relevant skill sets with 100% job assurance. BridgeLabz has forged partnerships with more than a thousand companies including Yatra, Capgemini, Meru, and RBL Bank alongside others. Using its innovative approach, BridgeLabz aims to impact more than 1 million jobs by 2025. The platform aimed at nurturing engineering talent and ideas emerging in the technology space. Platform is offering a 30 day online CodinClub Bootcamp to upskill the fresh engineering,  IT talent in India and improve the overall coding proficiency. Doing to enhance the employability of the IT resources and advance them on a higher career path.

Coursera – Coursera is a world-wide online learning platform where each subject is taught by top instructors from world-class universities and companies, giving people an opportunity to learn something new anytime, anywhere. It provides access to on-demand video lectures, homework exercises, and community discussion forums, additional quizzes and projects as well as a shareable Course Certificate upon completion. With the lockdown situation, the platform has made around 3,800 courses free making it a 5th most viewed platform in India.

Byju’s  – The learning app for students across age groups with programmes in English and Hindi that make learning and understanding concepts easier for school kids. With the education system shifting to online learning, the platform partnered to provide free online classes not only for school students but also for government and other entrance exams.

Interview Bit- Founded in 2015, the Bengaluru-based startup offers computer science courses through live online classes. Students are mentored and taught by tech leaders and experts working with companies such as Facebook, Twitter, and Netflix, among others.  The startup aims to polish the skills of fresh college graduates, working professional engineers and make them job ready.

Pesto – Established in 2017, Delhi-based educational startup Pesto is helping accelerate India’s software engineering talent through its 12-week bootcamp with a minimum of two years of experience to groom their advanced programming skills which are essential in today’s job scenario. In the camp, aspirants get an opportunity to connect with US mentors through video conferencing. Pesto allows students to enroll for the program free of cost and pay when they get a job.
