Admission open for BTech, MTech, MBA & PhD in National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management

Haryana: National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, (NIFTEM), a Deemed to be University  and an autonomous Institution under Ministry of Food Processing Industries, has announced Admission for 2018-19. The following programmes are offered for admission: BTech, MTech, MBA & PhD.

MTech: Each of the five departments of NIFTEM offers uniquely designed Post Graduate Programme leading to two years:  MTech in Food Technology and Management (FTM); MTech in Food Process Engineering and Management (FPEM);  M Tech in Food Plant Operations and Management (FPOM);  MTech in Food Safety and Quality Management (FSQM);  and M Tech in Food Supply Chain Management (FSCM).

For MTech programmes, each department has 18 seats.

BTech: NIFTEM offers unique Under Graduate programme of B. Tech. degree in Food Technology and Management (FTM). The total number of seats are 180 for BTech programmes. The selection of candidates will be based on JEE Main 2018 all India Overall Rank.

PhD Programmes Details: NIFTEM invites applications from eligible candidates for PhD programmes.

Agriculture and Environmental Sciences- Postharvest Horticulture; Environmental sciences

  1. Basic and Applied Sciences –Analytical Chemistry and Instrumentation, New analytical method development and Validation for determination of toxicants and contaminants in food products, Food Quality and Safety, Food Quality Surveys for studies on Risk Assessment, Studies for development of standards for Quality and Safety Studies of Herbal and Ayurvedic products, Food Fortification, Applications of Gamma Irradiation, Nutraceuticals and Functional Foods,Food Microbiology and Biotechnology, Mathematical Biology, Contamination determination and Packaging material,Food Safety and Quality, Development of Prebiotics based new product, Food Packaging, Nano-composites and Biosensors, Stochastic Modeling , Big Data in Food Safety and Quality, Anti Biofouling Nano-comounds and its applications.
  2. Food Business Management and Entrepreneurship Development-Marketing CSR, Statistics, Quantitative Techniques, Operations Research, Management Science, Banking, Financial Services, Entrepreneurship, Supply Chain Management, Agribusiness Management, General Management, Sustainability, IPR, Banking, Entrepreneurship,General Management, Capital Marketing, Banking & Finance, General Management, Entrepreneurship Development,General Management, Organization Behaviour, Operations Management, Food Supply Chain Management, Business Sustainability, Food Marketing, Rural Marketing, Food Policy, Food Services Marketing.
  3. Food Engineering-Application of 3D printing in Food Process Industry.
  4. Food Science and Technology-Food Properties. New Product Development, Food Safety; Food Safety & Toxicology, Risk Assessment, , Antioxidants & NPD from Seaweeds, Nanoparticles & their safety in foods/packaging material; Fruits and vegetable processing, Bakery, traditional foods; Characterization of Indian Savory Items & Functional Food.

PhD Eligibility Criteria 2018-19: M.Tech/ Master Degree in a relevant discipline with at least 60% marks at Masters. Preference will be given to NET qualified candidates. Candidates can apply only one department.

Selection Process: Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/ICAR-NET (including JRF)/SLET shall be exempted from Research Entrance Test (RET) in line with clause 5.1 of UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Awards of M. Phil and PhD Degrees) Regulations 2016.

RET to be organized by NIFTEM at NIFTEM campus, Kundli. As per entrance paper choice, the syllabus of the EntranceTest shall consist of 50% of research methodology and 50% shall be subject specific. There shall be negative marking and for each wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted. Qualifying marks is 50%. Syllabus for the entrance exam will be uploaded later in NIFTEM website.

Both NET (including JRF) qualified and RET qualified candidates will appear for interview /presentation where the candidates would be required to discuss their research areas/interest before the interview panel. Separate department wise (subject specific) merit lists to be prepared based on the interview performance only.

Scholarship & Financial Support: The NET qualified candidates (without JRF) selected through the above process shall be allowed to enroll for Ph.D.degree program at NIFTEM and it shall provide a NIFTEM Ph.D. Fellowship (Rs. 16,000/-, Rs. 18,000/- and Rs. 20,000/-per month in the first, second and third year, respectively). Those without NET shall be provided with NIFTEM Ph.D. scholarship (Rs. 15,000/-, Rs. 16,000/- and Rs. 17,000/- per month in the first, second and third year, respectively).

Important Dates: The closing date for submission of application is 15 June 2018.
