New Delhi:  A large number of candidates, aspiring to pursuer career in research and academic teaching, appear UGC-NET examination. The next UGC-National Eligibility Test (NET) exam will be held on 02-06 December 2019.

On June 2019 Exam, more than 9.4 Lakh candidates registered. More than 6.8 candidates appear the test.  Dec 2019 UGC NET will conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) in 84 Subjects.  SkillOutlook presents the key points of examination composition and pattern, which may help the candidates to crack the test.

The Examination shall be conducted as Computer Based Test (CBT) only.

The Test will consist of two papers. Both the papers will consist of objective type, multiple choice questions. There will be no break between papers. Paper will have total marks of 100 while Paper 2 will have total marks of 200.

Paper I Details:  There will be 50 questions, each will carry 2 marks. The questions in Paper I intends to assess the teaching/ research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.

Paper II Details: There will be 100 questions, each will carry 2 marks. This is based on the subject selected by the candidate and will assess domain knowledge.

Duration of the test is 03 hours (180 minutes) without any break. All the questions are compulsory. There is no negative marking for incorrect response.

The Information Bulletin informed that If a question is found to be incorrect/ambiguous during the key challenge, only those candidates who have attempted the question and chosen one of the correct answer would be given the credit. Only for dropped question(s), if any, marks will be given to all the candidates.

In June UGC NET conducted by the NTA, more than 9.4 lakh candidates registered.  The number of candidates appeared on both papers are more than 6.8 Lakh.  Out of these the number of candidates , qualified for eligibility for Assistant Professor are  50,945. Candidates qualified for JRF & eligible for Assistant Professor 4,756.

On behalf of University Grants Commission (UGC), the National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Assistant Professor Both, in Indian Universities and Colleges.

Till June 2018, the CBSE conducted the NET in 84 subjects at 91 selected Cities of spread across the country. Since Dec 2018 onwards, the UGC- NET is being conducted by the NTA.
