New Delhi, 07 March 2023: In India there are 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). These Institutes of National Importance (INIs) admit PhD students in two sessions: July and January. For upcoming session, there some INIs have opened PhD Admission.

Gandhinagar, 07 March 2023: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar, an Institute of National Importance, has announced PhD Admission for Semester I 2023-24. Regular(RR) and Continuing Doctoral Programme (CDP) are available.
Students joining the PhD program as regulars (RR) will be considered for Institute Fellowship based on the Ministry of Education norms.

Jammu, 07 March 2023: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu, an Institute of National Importance, has announced PhD Admission Special Drive for 2022-23. This is a special admission drive from candidates belonging to SC/ST/EWS/OBC-NCL/PwD category.
The applicants for admission to the PhD programme shall be classified under any one of the following categories:

IIT Kharagpur Opens PhD Admission Autumn Semester 2023-24 with Institute Assistantship
Kharagpur, 27 February 2023: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, an Institute of National Importance, has opened PhD Admission for Autumn Semester 2023-24. Regular PhD candidates will receive Institute Research Assistantship.
PhD Programmes are available in the following categories: Regular with Institute Assistantship, Individual Fellowship (i.e. CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/INSPIRE etc.), Sponsored, and Working Professionals] of the Institute in all disciplines of Engineering, Technology, Science, Architecture & Regional Planning, Humanities & Social Sciences, Rural Development, Law, Management and Medicine. IIT Madras Announces PhD Admission July 2023: 323 PhD Seats with Fellowships & 144 Seats for MS
Chennai, 22 February 2023: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, an Institute of National Importance, has opened application window for PhD/Direct PhD/MS (by Research) Admission July 2023 Semester. Scholars admitted to PhD and MS programmes under Regular scheme are eligible for the following Half-Time Research Assistantship (HTRA).
The total number of vacant PhD seats with HTRA are 323 while MSC (by Research) seats are 144 for July 2023-24 session.
Fellowships: Scholars admitted to PhD and M.S. programmes under Regular scheme are eligible for the following Half-Time Research Assistantship (HTRA). PhD Candidates will get Rs 31,000 /- Per Month while MS (By Research) candidates will get Rs 12,400 Per Month. They should work for 8 hours per week in the Departments to earn this assistantship.
