New Delhi, 04 May 2024: In India, there are 32 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and more than 20 Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs). These premier research and education institutes admit PhD scholars in two sessions. Now Admission for Semester I of 2024-25 session has commenced.
As on 04 May 2024, there are Four NITs and Three IIITs have announced PhD Admission for Semester I 2024-25. These institutes offer attractive fellowships, popularly known as Institute Fellowships.

NIT Rourkela Announces PhD Admission July 2024 with Institute Fellowships
Rourkela, Odisha, 03 May 2023: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela, has released PhD Admission notification for Autumn (July) 2024 Semester commencing from July 2024.
Admission will be given preferably to the applicants who are eligible for Institute fellowship or have qualified for External fellowship. However, admission may also be considered without fellowship. Students with external fellowship like JRF-NET are especially encouraged to apply.

NIT Surathkal Opens PhD Admission July 2024 for 188 Institute Fellowship Seats
Surathkal, 07 April 2024: National Institute of Technology (NIT), Surathkal, an Institute of National Importance, has invited applications for PhD Programmes for July 2024 session. Institute Fellowship benefits are available to Full Time PhD scholars.
Full time research scholars are eligible for a fellowship of Rs. 37,000/- pm for the first two years and Rs. 42,000/-pm for the remaining two years on satisfactory progress if they qualify in the national level written test and a technical interview, both conducted by the respective DRPC of the concerned departments in physical mode at NITK, Surathkal. The Research scholars have to assist in teaching and laboratory work assigned by the department and are eligible for 30 days’ vacation leave per year.
