Kharagpur, 30 July 2021: IIT Kharagpur has released the dates for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022. IIT Kharagpur is the organizing institute of  Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE ) 2022.

IIT Kharagpur informed that the dates of the GATE 2022 examination are scheduled to be held on 5th, 6th and 12th, 13th February, 2022.

The organising team headed by Professor Ranjan Bhattacharyya announced the following initiatives to be effective during GATE 2022 operations:

  • Two new subject papers will be available to the candidates, namely GE (Geomatics Engineering) and NM (Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering) making the total number of GATE papers as 29.
  • To further increase the opportunity of interdisciplinary areas, unlike previous year, the options to choose the second paper have been increased subject to the availability of the slots.
  • Eligibility criteria to appear for GATE 2022 are extended to include BDS and M. Pharm degrees.

In a press statement, IIT  Kharagpur  said that all information regarding GATE 2022 examination will be available shortly.

Professor V.K. Tewari, Chair NCB and Director of IIT Kharagpur extends his best wishes to the organising team as well as the zonal teams and noted that “The two new papers (GE and NM) will provide direct benefits to our graduates in these two areas, especially when the country needs human resources with advanced capabilities in Ship Building Industries and Geo-informatics. Further, the GATE examination is fast acquiring a brand value and foreign universities are also utilising the scores for their admission to post graduate programmes for candidates from India. Besides, several PSUs use the GATE score for their recruitment.  Wishing all the aspirants very best in their endeavour to reach to top institutions of the country for higher education.”

 GATE 2021: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay was the organizing institute of GATE 2021. The pass percentange or qualifying rate in the test has been 17.82%.

Overall, 8.82 lakh candidates have registered GATE 2021 compared to 8.77 Lakh candidates in GATE 2020.
