Kanpur:  Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, an Institute of National Importance, has released Admission Notification for PhD/MTech/MS (By Research) Programmes 2020-21-II Semester (Commencing from Jan, 2021).

Fellowships: Financial support (Institute Assistantship/Scholarship) will be provided to non-sponsored PhD, MTech and MS (By Research) students.

Key Dates: The online application portal has opened from 12 October 2020. The online application portal will close on 02 November 2020.

Application Fee: The application fee is Rs.400 for General, EWS and OBC candidates and Rs.200 for SC/ST and all DAP candidates (including General, EWS and OBC). The application fee is waived for candidates in the ‘Foreign National’ category.

PhD (Engg.): Aerospace Engineering * Biological Sciences & Bio-Engineering * Civil Engineering (no admission in ‘Transportation Engineering’ specialization) * Computer Science & Engineering * Electrical Engineering * Industrial and Management Engineering * Materials Science & Engineering * Mechanical Engineering

PhD (Sciences): Chemistry * Earth Sciences * Economic Sciences * Mathematics * Physics * Statistics

PhD (Management): Industrial and Management Engineering

PhD (Design): Interdisciplinary Programme in Design

PhD (Humanities & Social Sciences): English (Literature, Linguistics & ELT) * Fine Arts * Philosophy * Psychology * Sociology

MTech: Materials Science & Engineering

MS (By Research): Aerospace Engineering * Computer Science & Engineering * Electrical Engineering * Mechanical Engineering (only in ‘Manufacturing Science’ specialization)

Eligibility for MTech in Materials Science & Engineering:

(i) A bachelor’s degree in engineering or science (4-year programme) or a master’s degree in science with marks/CPI not below the specified minimum.

(ii) A valid GATE score is required for admission to the MTech programme in the case of regular (non-sponsored) candidates. The requirement of GATE score is waived off for the candidates with the B Tech/BS (Four Year) degree from IITs with a minimum overall CPI of 6.5 and a minimum CPI of 8.0 in the last two years in B Tech/BS (Four Year).
