Bangalore, 14 November 2020: Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), an Autonomous Institution under Department of Science & Technology – A Deemed University, announces Mid- Year Admissions 2020 for Research Programmes. The following Research Programmes are available: PhD/ MS(Engg) / MS(Research).
Research Areas & Units: Chemistry and Physics of Materials Unit (CPMU), Engineering Mechanics Unit (EMU), Evolutionary and Integrative Biology Unit (EIBU), and New Chemistry Unit (NCU).
Fellowships: All the students joining JNCASR are eligible for a scholarship offered by CSIR/ UGC/ICMR/DBT/INSPIRE/JNCASR depending upon their mode of entry.
Eligibility: Candidates with an M Sc., B E, B Tech, M E, M Tech or MBBS/MD are eligible to apply. They should have at least 50% marks in their qualifying University examination, and should also have qualified in the GATE / JEST /GPAT or UGC -/ CSIR – NET-JRF/ / ICMR – JRF / DBT-JRF/ INSPIRE-JRF. The award certificate of such tests should have the validity period for seeking admission to research programme as on 1st January 2021. Generally ME/M.Tech students are required to qualify one of the exams mentioned above, however exceptional candidates without these exams may also be considered.
It may be noted that preference will be given to candidates qualified for a fellowship through NET-JRF offered by CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/Inspire
Selection procedure: Candidates are shortlisted for an interview based on their performance in the National Entrance Test and/or academic performance. The selection is based on the performance in the interview (in some of the Units, an aptitude test/preliminary interview will precede the interview/final interview).
