Surat, 21 November 2020:  Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat, an Institute of National Importance, has invited applications for PhD Programmes for January 2021 session. Institute Fellowship benefits are available to Full Time PhD scholars.

Full time Institute Research scholars (FIR) taking admission in PhD Programs in Engineering, Sciences, English and Management should have qualified GATE/NET/CAT Examinations, at least once, in an academic career. Regular full-time scholars may be awarded scholarship / Assistantship as per MHRD / Institute guidelines.

The institutes  provide PhD programmes under the following categories:  (a) Full-time Institute Research Scholars (FIR); (b) Full-time Research Scholars and Paid by Government/Semi-Government Organization / QIP / EFIP (FRS); (c) Full-time Sponsored Candidate (FSC); (d) Part-time Institute Faculty and Staff (PIS); (e) Part-time Project Staff (PPF); (f) Part-time External candidates (PEC); (g) Full-time Self-Financed candidate (FSF); (h) Full-time Study Leave candidate (FSL).

Key Dates: The closing date for submission of application is 25 November 2020.

Online Written Test for All Departments : 15 December  2020

Online Interviews for All Departments : 16 December  2020

Application Fees: The candidates applying for admission in Ph.D programme for 2020 academic session will be required to pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 1000(for OP/OB) and Rs. 500 (for SC/ST) through the online payment portal of the institute.

The notification mentioned that only those candidate who have successfully defended M.Tech./M.E./M.Sc./M.Phil./M.A. thesis will be allowed to appear for the Ph.D. interview. In case of the candidates whose qualifying degree results are not declared, they have to submit their final results by 15th September/15th February for admissions in Autumn /spring semesters respectively.

  4. Chemical Engineering
  5. Electronics Engineering & Communication Engineering
  6. Computer Engineering
  7. Mathematics

  9. Chemistry
  10. Management
  11. English
