New Delhi, 22 December 2020: For December 2020 – January 2021 session, many National Institutes Technology (NITs) have opened application portal for PhD Admission. In India, there are 31 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and IIEST Shibpur, which come under NIT Council and are declared National Institutes of Importance.
These institutes offer Institute Fellowships or Teaching Assistantship to Regular PhD Scholars. Also, the tuition fee, other study expenses are very low. Hence, NITs are very popular among PhD Aspirants.
As on 22 December 2020, there five NITs have opened their application window for PhD Admission for January 2021 semester. Meanwhile five NITs have closed their application portal as application deadline ended: Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur and Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat, NIT Manipur, NIT Andhra Pradesh, NIT Silchar, and NIT Calicut.

Jaipur, Rajasthan, 21 December 2020: Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MANIT) Jaipur, an Institute of National Importance & popularly known as NIT Jaipur, has extended the closing date for submission of online application for PhD Programmes Even semester 2020-21. Now the closing date for submission of online application is 27 December 2020 (05:00 PM).
Selection will he held on Online Written Test and Online Interview considering COVID 19 pandemic. Institute Scholarship benefits are available for Full Time Research scholars.
NIT Rourkela Announces PhD Admission Jan 2021 for 20 Departments
Rourkela, Odisha, 15 December 2020: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela, has applications from eligible candidates for admission to PhD Program (without Institute Fellowship) for Spring (January) 2020-21 Semester commencing from January 2021. Institute Fellowship category of PhD Admission is not available for January 2021 semester.
NIT Rourkela informed that admissions will be given preferably to the applicants who have qualified for external fellowships. However, admission may also be considered without fellowship. Students with external fellowship like JRF-NET are especially encouraged to apply.
Key Dates: Application form will be available in the Institute website for online submission: 07 December 2020 (Monday) to 25 December 2020 (Friday).
NIT Manipur Announces PhD Admission Jan 2021 with Institute Assistantships ! Selection Mode Online
Imphal , 13 December 2020: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur, an Institute of National Importance, has invited applications for PhD Programmes for January 2021 Academic Session. Institute Assistantship benefits are available for Full Time Research scholars.
Selection Procedure: The mode of selection will be done online.

NIT Agartala Announces PhD Admission Jan-June 2021 with Institute Assistantships
Agartala, Tripura, 10 December 2020: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala, an Institute of National Importance, has invited applications for PhD Programmes for January-July 2021 Academic Session. Institute Assistantship benefits are available for Full Time Research scholars.
PhD Admission is available in the following subject groups: (a)Engineering, (b)Science (c) Management Humanities & Social Sciences Departments.
Key Dates & Application Fees: The last date of online fee payment is 23 December 2020. The last date of submission online application is 23 December 2020. Publication of short listed candidates is 01 January 2021.
Puducherry, 08 December 2020: National Institute of Technology (NIT), Puducherry, an Institute of National Importance, has released PhD Admission Notification for January 2021 session. The PhD programmes are available 09 departments.
Regular full time scholars will get institute fellowship/JRF. The institute fellowship will be limited and shall be available on merit.
NIT Silchar Notifies PhD Admission Jan-June 2021 ! Apply Now
Silchar: National Institute of Technology (NIT), Raipur, an Institute of National Importance, has announced Admission into PhD programme under Group B category.
Under GROUP B PhD Program category: No financial assistance or stipend by NIT Silchar will be provided for this GROUP.
