New Delhi, 14 September 2021: In India, there are 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and 32 National Institutes of Technology (NITs). These institutes are dream destination for PhD aspirants. Institute Fellowships or Teaching Assistantship are offered to Full Time research scholars.
As on 14 September 2021, there are One IIT and One NIT have opened PhD Admission for January 2022 session with Institute Fellowships. The total number of PhD seats with Fellowships are expected to be more than 350.

NIT Bhopal Announces PhD Admission 2021-22 for 150 Seats with Teaching Assistantship
Bhopal, 11 September 2021: Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal, popularly known as NIT, an Institute of National Importance, has released PhD Admission Notification for 2021-22.
Full Time Research Students (150 number of seats) are eligible for Teaching Assistantship as per Minitry of Education norms.
PhD Programmes available in the following categories: Full Time Research Students; Sponsored Full Time; JRF/Project Associates; and Internal faculty members working in MANIT Bhopal.

Mumbai, 01 September 2021: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, an Institute of National Importance, has announced PhD Admission for Spring Semester 2021-22. Regular PhD students will be eligible for Research Assistantship (RA) and Teaching Assistantship (TA) [Financial support as per MHRD norm]. The sanctioned strength for PhD Programme for the year 2021-22 is 431.

Research Assistantship (RA): A candidate, selected for the Ph.D. Programme, at IIT Bombay will be eligible for the financial support under the RA category subject to the fulfilment of criteria.
The assistantship is payable for a maximum duration of 5 years or up to the thesis submission, whichever is earlier. The monthly rate of assistantship is Rs. 35,000/ for the first 2 years and enhanced rate of Rs. 39,000/ for the remaining period.
Total PhD Seats: The sanctioned strength for PhD Programme for the year 2021-22 is 431.
