Pune, 01 Aug 2021: Savitribai Phule Pune University, formerly University of Pune, has announced the extension of the closing date for submission of online for PhD & MPhil admission for 2021. After extension of the date, the closing date of submission of application is 08 August 2021.
The university will hold PhD Entrance Test (PET) on 22 Aug 2021. Publication of Result on University Website is 24 August 2021.
There are more than 72 streams/disciplines where PhD admission is offered by Savitribai Phule Pune University. The faculties where more than 72 research disciplines include science & technology, engineering, Business & Management , Pharmacy, Commerce, Humanities & Arts, Social Sciences, Law and Education. The detailed subjects available for PhD research are given at the bottom part of the story.
A large number of PhD vacant seats are available. There are more than 3,400 PhD seats are available. The PhD candidates shall ordinarily work in a recognized place of research including the University Departments, Research Institutes and Affiliated Colleges recognized by the University.
Key Dates: The application will close on 08 Aug 2021 (Revised). The PhD Entrance Test (PET) will be held on 22 August 2021.
Eligibility Conditions: Candidates have a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed)
A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, shall be allowed for those belonging to reserved categories/Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates as per policies of the Government of Maharashtra prescribed from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19 September 1991.
Candidates who have cleared the MPhil course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and successfully completing the MPhil Degree shall be eligible to proceed to do research work leading to the PhD. Degree in the same institution in an integrated programme. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, shall be allowed for those belonging to reserved categories/Differently- Abled and other categories of candidates as per policies of the Government of Maharashtra prescribed from time to time.
Exemption from appearing in Entrance Examination: The candidates fulfilling at least one of the following conditions will be exempted from Entrance Examination:
Candidates qualified in UGC-NET (Including JM)AJGC-CSIRNET (Including JRF)/SLET/GATE (valid score) or teacher fellowship holders will be exempted from the Entrance Test for Ph.D. progrtlmme.
Candidates who have passed MPhil Programme of the Savitribai Phule Pune University will be exempted from the Entrance Test for PhD programme.
