New Delhi, 14 September 2022: Universities in India admit PhD students in two sessions: July and January. For January 2023 session, some universities have started admission process.
As on 14 September 2022, there are Seven Premier Government Research Universities have announced PhD for 2022-2023.

Mumbai, 12 September 2022: Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), India’s premier institution for advanced research in fundamental sciences, will conduct Entrance Test for Graduate School Admissions (GS-2023) for PhD, Integrated PhD and MSc Progarmms on 11 December 2022 (Sunday).
The application portal for GS-2023 will open soon (any time in mid September 2022).

IIT Gandhinagar Announces PhD Admission Sem II 2022-23 with Institute Fellowships
Gandhinagar, 10 September 2022: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar, an Institute of National Importance, has announced PhD Admission for Semester II 2022-23. Regular(RR) and Continuing Doctoral Programme (CDP) are available.
Students joining the PhD program as regulars (RR) will be considered for Institute Fellowship based on the Ministry of Education norms.

AcSIR Common PhD Entrance Test January 2023 for 44 CSIR Research Labs is Open
New Delhi, 27 August 2022: Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) New Delhi, an Institute of National Importance, has opened applications portal for admission to PhD in Science and Engineering Programs for the January 2023 Batch. The research streams are disciplines of Science and Engineering – an exciting opportunity to pursue doctoral research in world renowned CSIR Laboratories – the Nation-wide Network of AcSIR Centers.
AcSIR is common PhD Entrance test for 44 CSIR Laboratories coming under AcSIR. There is no application fee for PhD Test.

New Delhi, 26 August 2022: Jawaharlal Nehru University, India’s top ranked university, has released the prospectus for PhD Admission and Diploma in Proficiency for academic year 2022-23.
The candidates seeking admission into Ph.D. programmes have to appear in the CBT (Computer Based Test).
JRF qualified candidates shall be exempted from Computer Based Test (CBT). They are required to apply separately under JRF category. Such candidates shall be shortlisted and called directly for viva-voce.
GATE qualified candidates for the admission in the school of Engineering shall be exempted from Computer Based Test (CBT). They are required to apply separately under GATE category. Such candidates shall be shortlisted and called directly for viva-voce.
The application portal for JRF qualified and GATE qualified category candidates is open now.
The application portal for Jawaharlal Nehru University Entrance Examination (JNUEE) 2022-23 will open very soon, as the notification from JNU.
Bangalore, 12 September 2022: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore, second Top Ranker in BSchools in India, has opened application portal for PhD (Doctoral) Admission 2023. PhD Admission is available in 10 subjects related to Management, Economics and Entrepreneurship.
There is no tuition fee for PhD students. Additionally, Doctoral research scholars will receive a stipend of Rs 35,000 per month for up to five years to cover their living expenses. Startup grant (in year 1) of Rs 75,000 to meet expenses on purchasing research work related hardware and software.

University of Queensland – IIT Delhi Academy of Research Opens Joint PhD Admission January 2023
New Delhi, 10 September 2022: The UQ – IITD Academy of Research (UQIDAR) is a transnational collaborative joint-PhD program that supports research in multi-disciplinary areas. The University of Queensland, a top university from Australia, and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi Academy of Research have collaborated to offer Joint PhD Programes.
The UQ – IITD Academy of Research (UQIDAR) has invited applications from eligible candidates for PhD Programmes for January 2023. The admission portal will open from 12 September 2022.
There are two PhD pathways to consider: i-students and q-students.
Key Dates: The closing date for submission of Express of Interest (EOI) application is 16 October 2022.
Key Research Areas: UQIDAR will leverage a shared history of research excellence to focus on interdisciplinary themes.
