These premier research and education institutes admit PhD scholars in two sessions. Now Admission for Semester I of 2024-25 session has commenced.
As on 16 March 2024, there are Six IITs have announced PhD Admission for Semester I 2024-25. These institutes offer attractive fellowships, popularly known as Institute Fellowships.

IIT Madras PhD Admission2024-25 Sem I: 319 for PhD & 161 Seats for MS with Fellowships
Chennai, 03 March 2024: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, an Institute of National Importance, has opened application window for PhD/Direct PhD/MS (by Research) Admission for July 2024 Semester. Scholars admitted to PhD and MS programmes under Regular scheme are eligible for the following Half-Time Research Assistantship (HTRA).
Total Vacant Seats: The total number of vacant PhD seats with HTRA are 319 while MSC (by Research) seats are 161 for July 2024 session.

IIT Guwahati Announces PhD Admission (Special for Science Subjects) March 2024 for 20 Seats
Guwahati, 28 September 2023: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, an Institute of National Importance, has announced PhD Special Admission for March 2024 Session (Science Subjects).
