Kolkata: SN Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata has invited online applications for Integrated PhD and Regular PhD programmes for 2017 session.  The PhD Programme is available for Physical, Chemical and Biological Sciences for the academic year commencing form 2017. The Integrated PhD programme is offered in Physical Science subject.

The online application system has commenced from 16 April 2017. Online application system will close on 14 May 2017. Fellowship will be offered to PhD candidates with JRF at Rs 25,000 /- per month and SRF at 28,000 /- per month.  For Integrated PhD candidates, the monthly stipend is 12,000 /- per month.

Qualification for PhD  programmes: MSc with First Class/Division i.e., minimum 60% in aggregate (55% for SC/ST/OBC candidates) in Physics, Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Biophysics or Biochemistry.

Further Qualifications required in addition to above requirement:

JEST – Upto 257 Rank

OR

GATE – Upto AIR 400 (2015, 2016 and 2017)

OR

NET – CSIR NET-JRF and UGC-NET-JRF (June/Dec 2015, June/Dec 2016)

OR

INSPIRE – PROVISIONALLY SELECTED and Award Letter to be valid upto 31 August 2017.

Integrated PhD programmes: The students in the programme have to undertake a prescribed course work for MSc. The students who successfully complete these courses receive an MSc Degree from the University of Calcutta. The students after a proper screening process will register for PhD degree with the University of Calcutta.

Qualification for Integrated PhD programmes: First Class/Division i.e., minimum 60% in aggregate (55% for SC/ST/OBC candidates) in BSc with Physics and Mathematics.

Further Qualification required in addition to above requirement:

JEST: Upto 154 Rank

OR

NGPE: Top 25 Rank

These programmes are fully residential and the students are offered on campus accommodations and boarding facilities. The Centre charges no fee for the programme. SN Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences is an autonomous research institute dedicated to basic research in mathematics sciences under the Department of Science and Technology of Government of India.
