New Delhi, 09 November 2021: In India there are 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and 32 National Institutes of Technology (NITs). These institutes offer attractive Teaching Assistantship or Institutional Fellowships to PhD scholars.
As on 09 November 2021, there are Five IITs and Three NITs which have opened PhD Admission for January 2022. There are many IITs have already closed their application portal for admission. Some NITs have kickstarted the PhD Admission process for January 2022.

Tirupati, 02 November 2021: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Tirupati, an Institute of National Importance, has announced PhD & MS (Research) Admission Portal for January 2022 Intake.
Financial Assistance is available (Half-time Teaching/Research Assistantship – HTRA) as per the norms of MoE or other funding agency.
Categories of Admission (PhD): (a) Regular full-time scholars; (b) Research scholars under the external registration programme (Sponsored).

IIT Patna Announces PhD Admission Jan 2022 with Institute Assistantships: Decoding Eligibility
Patna, 29 October 2021: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna, an Institute of National Importance, has announced PhD Admission for January 2022 (Spring Semester, AY-2021-22).
The Institute assistantships will be available to eligible (Indian) students as per prevailing (Ministry of Education, GoI) norms, as applicable from time to time. At present total emoluments are Rs 31,000/- per month.
IIT Patna admits PhD students under the following categories: Regular Full Time, Sponsored, Self-Financed, Project Staff, and Employed & Part Time. Regular PhD full time can be classified a) Institute Fellows- She/he receives assistantship from the Institute; b) JRF/SRF Fellows – She/he receives fellowship from any government recognized funding agencies, such as CSIR, UGC, DBT, NBHM, DST (INSPIRE programme), etc.

Surat, 08 November 2021: Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat, an Institute of National Importance, has announced PhD Admission January 2022 (Spring Session). Institute Fellowship benefits are available to Full Time PhD scholars.
