As on 18 September 2025, there are three Institutes of National Importance (INIs) have announced PhD Admission for Semester II 2025-26. These institutes offer attractive fellowships, popularly known as Institute Fellowships.

IISER Kolkata Announces PhD Admission for Spring 2026 Semester with Institute Fellowships
Kolkata, 18 September 2025: Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Kolkata, an Institute of National Importance, has released PhD Admission for Spring 2025 semester. Hotel management courses Government job openings.

Indian Institute of Astrophysics Bangalore Opens PhD Admission January 2026
Bangalore, 14 September 2025: The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) is a premier institute devoted to research in astronomy, astrophysics and related physics. In collaboration with the Pondicherry University (PU), IIA runs IIA-PU PhD programme.
This is a full-time research programme where in the students work towards their Ph.D. degree under the supervision of an IIA faculty member.
IIA conducts two Ph.D. programmes, (a) IIA-PU Ph.D. Programme and (b) IIA-CU Integrated M.Tech – Ph.D. (Tech.) Programme in Astronomical Instrumentation.
IIA invites applications for PhD Admission for January 2025. Research areas include astronomy, astrophysics and related areas of physics.
The stipend of a JRF is Rs. 37,000/- pm, and of an SRF is Rs. 42,000/- pm in addition to an annual book grant and medical facilities. Upon submission of the Ph.D. thesis the fellowship may be further increased to 46,000/- pm.
