Some are well versed and approach safely with a ready plan of action, while others are not so savvy. The idea is to find out as much as you can before you apply for a certain scholarship and do the finding bit from credible sources. Internet is littered with all types of information. Its upto you to pick up the needles from the hay stack.

There is no denying the fact that finding the right kind of scholarship is a tough deal, however, it is worth every penny. Financial aids are absolutely necessary if quality education is your priority, as these comes for a price. The information you can find on the internet is mind boggling. Effective research can fetch you information on scholarships that will help you fund a valuable portion of your studies.

Here are some of the best scholarships that students in India, wishing to study abroad, can look forward to:

Australia

Endeavour Postgraduate Awards: These awards offer complete financial support for international students from Americas, Europe, The Caribbean, Middle East, Asia and the Pacific to commence a postgraduate qualification at a Masters (up to 2 years) or PhD level (up to 4 years) either by coursework or research in any field of study in Australia. This Endeavour Postgraduate Awards scholarships include course tuition fees, travel allowance, establishment allowance, a monthly stipend, health insurance, and travel insurance.

Then there is the Australia Awards Scholarships and Fellowships by the Government of Australia available for students from select countries. These covers all degree level courses, such as bachelor’s, master’s, PhD.

Australia International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS): This Australian scholarship is available for uptake by any graduate student from anywhere in the world (excluding New Zealand). Valid for all requiring a research degree at a participating Australian university.

Endeavour VET Scholarship: This scholarship provide financial support for international applicants to undertake VET at a diploma, advanced diploma or associate degree level in any field in Australia for upto two and a half years. The scholarship includes travel allowance, establishment allowance and a monthly stipend.

La Trobe Academic Excellence Scholarships for International Students: Also known as AES, is primarily meant for high achieving international students from all countries, for all undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs. The worth of this scholarship varies between $10,000 and $20,000 and goes towards tuition fees.

Macquarie University Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarships: The scholarship provides a part of the tuition fees for high achieving student from any country other than ASEAN, a European country, Mongolia, Australia or New Zealand to study an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at Macquarie University North Ryde campus. The tuition fee range upto AUD$10,000

Monash University International Merit: The Monash Univesity offers several alluring scholarships, this being one of them. This scholarship is valid for outstanding international students who wish to undertake an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at Monash University. The scholarship is valued at $10,000 for a full time study load, paid per year.

Canada

Trudeau Scholarships: This is the most prestigious of its type in Canada with an annual value of upto $60,000 per Scholar for a maximum of three years. In addition to rich financial support, the scholarship also includes a separate annual travel allowance to allow research related travel and also covers other networking, professional development and dissemination expenses. It also offers students the opportunity to leverage from a special relationship with an experienced Trudeau Mentor.

International Leader of Tomorrow Award at University of British Columbia: UBC offers bachelors scholarships for meritorious secondary and post-secondary international students from around the globe. The worth of awards is proportionate with established financial need, up to full tuition costs for the relevant program of study, and living expenses.

Humber Entrance Scholarships for International Students: The scholarship is open to new international students beginning sessions in September or January each year. These scholarship are renewable.

Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships: The Canadian government fellowships and scholarships for graduate students seeking to study within natural and social sciences or health research subjects.

Then there comes the IDRC Research Awards: This is also a Canadian Government scholarship meant for graduate students from developing countries willing to pursue a postgraduate research degree at a chosen Canadian university.

Organization of American States (OAS) Academic Scholarship Program: Again a Canadian Government scholarship led by the Organization of American States (OAS). This is open to all graduate students from OAS member state.

The reputed Trudeau Scholarships and Fellowships are valid for all international students undertaking doctoral-level study in Canada at selected institutions.

Europe

In France the much reputed Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Programme targets to attract the talented foreign students for Masters and PHD degree programs at participating French Universities. The students who are scholarship bearers receive a monthly allowance and it does not cover tuition fees. The scholarship encompasses various other expenses including return trip, health insurance and cultural activities.

Erasmus+ – A Europe-wide program led by the European Commission providing funding to the international students seeking to live and study in Europe.

Talent for Governance Training Scholarships in Netherlands:  This talent program covers all living expenses, travel costs and training course fee. Students needs to contribute 100 Euros or 200 Euros to their programme costs. The course is meant for the training of young civil servants.

VLIR-UOS Training Scholarships of Belgium: This scholarship is meant for students from the developing countries who wish to undertake English-taught training programmes at Belgian Universities. The fund includes allowance, travel costs, accommodation, insurance, tuition fees, and other program related costs.

University of Canterbury International First Year Scholarships (New Zealand): The University of Canterbury offers First Year Scholarship to high performing students commencing an undergraduate degree programme at the University. The scholarship value is $10,000-$20,000.

The Hague World Citizen Talent Scholarship (Netherlands): This again offers scholarship to highly meritorious international students outside the European Union who would like to pursue a Bachelor or a Master programme at the University. The scholarship will be applied as a tuition fee waiver and is valued at € 5,000.

The Bocconi University Scholarships for International Students in Italy: This University offer scholarships to international students undertaking Bachelor’s Program or Master of Science Program at Bocconi. This scholarship provide full tuition fee waiver valued upto €11,500 per year for Bachelor’s Program and up to €12,700 per year for Masters of Science Program.

Bologna University Study Grants for International Students in Italy: The University offers study grants to select international students who wish to register for First Cycle (Bachelors), Second Cycle (Masters) or Single Cycle Degree Programmes at the University of Bologna. The grant is given for one academic year and it’s valued at of €11,000.

Sweden’s Lund University Global Scholarships is another scholarship program that is ranked amongst the best of the best. It is targeted at top academic scholars who are citizens of countries from outside the European Union or the European Economic Area, and who are eager to pursue a Bachelors or Masters Degree Programme at the University. The scholarship covers 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of the tuition fee.
