Truman State University, rated the No. 1 public university in the U.S. Midwest region for 25 consecutive years by U.S. News & World Report, has commenced admission procedures for two of its top programs – Business Administration and Computer Science. Both programs excel in launching students to successful careers and both are offering special scholarships for high-potential students from India.
The Business Administration degree is a four-year program, offered as both BA and BS. Students in this program can look forward to succeeding in multiple areas of business through a combination of rigorous coursework and learning opportunities outside of class, such as research, professional internships, and study abroad. The program prepares students for future careers as executive officers, small and large business owners, research analysts, financial advisors, international executives and entrepreneurs, and many other jobs around the world. This program is designed to provide students with knowledge, skills, and abilities to lead and manage effectively.
“Today’s business world requires a sophisticated skillset,” said Tim Urbonya, Executive Director of International Education at Truman. “Truman’s Business Administration program teaches our students how to manage people, time, money, and resources efficiently and effectively. At Truman, students study in a cooperative spirit working on group projects, forming study groups, and collaborating with professors.”
Urbonya said Truman’s School of Business is among an elite group of schools accredited by AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), ensuring students are among a community of intellectuals who aspire to the highest standards.
“Truman offers high-quality academics, a safe and welcoming community, affordable tuition and cost of living,” Urbonya said. “We welcome students from India.”
As a business administration major at Truman State University, students create an educational plan tailored to match their interests and career goals. Students can choose to pursue a Bachelor of Science, which features a stronger emphasis on economics and math, or a Bachelor of Arts, if they are interested in obtaining intermediate proficiency in a foreign language. Students also have the option of focusing their studies on one of four concentrations – Finance, International Business, Management and Marketing.
Meanwhile, the Truman Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science is a four-year program that prepares the student to pursue a dynamic career that directly contributes to the innovation and progress of an individual. “When you pursue a computer science degree at Truman, you develop the foundation you need in a competitive, fast-growing field,” said Urbonya.
Students study the latest theories of computation and design from within the practical problem-solving framework of programming applications, setting them up to pursue their interests – whether data base management, gaming, business systems, or the fast-growing field of mobile apps.
At Truman, students enjoy small classes and personal attention where instructors know them by name, Urbonya said. Students can also complete research through individual software development projects, Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU’s), or personalized research experiences with one-on-one faculty mentorship.
“Computer science students are among the most sought-after graduates in the global workforce today,” said Urbonya. “After graduation, students are well-qualified to begin a career in industry or pursue advanced study in competitive graduate programs.” Recent Truman international student computer science graduates have secured positions at Facebook, Google, Microsoft and Amazon, among others, according to Urbonya.
