Mumbai: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT services exporter, added 18,362 employees on a gross basis in Q3 FY17 while 6,978 employees on a net addition. The total employee strength of TCS at the end of Q3 stood at 378,497 on a consolidated basis.

There is impressive performance in the human resources department of TCS in Q3FY17. The total attrition rate (LTM) further slipped to 11.3% in IT services and was at 12.2% including BPS. In another positive development, the percentage of women in TCS rose to an all-time high of 34.6%.

Mr N Chandrasekaran, CEO and MD of TCS, said “To support and sustain our Digital business that is growing at 30% on an annual basis, we continue to build new capabilities in Digital technologies, empower employees to enhance agility in the workplace and invest more to develop IP-based platforms and products. Some of these products and platforms are maturing with greater customer adoption while others continue to be incubated in our Innovation labs. As digital adoption increases in 2017, we are well prepared to lead this change.”

“Our efforts and investments to build professionals with the right digital skills continue and now more than 190,000 TCSers are equipped with new capabilities to help our customers with their transformations. We are also happy that our retention rates continue to rise as we remain engaged with our employees to help them succeed in a digital world,” said Ajoy Mukherjee, executive vice president and global head, Human Resources, TCS.

During Q3 FY17, TCS won gold award for TCS New York City Marathon App at Best in Biz Awards 2016 while grabbed  ‘BEST Award’ 2016 from the Association for Talent Development. The company also featured  in the ‘Top Employer Asia Pacific 2017’ by the Top Employers Institute. The IT giant also named ‘Top 100 Excellence Employer of China’ and won award for ‘Excellence in HR Management Team’ in China.
