Mumbai:  In a unique way, International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT Bangalore) and UpGrad have announced the launch of multi-city road show titled Data Analytics – A Career of the Future to create awareness on career opportunities on Data Analytics. This initiative aims at bringing together the most influential analytics leaders and academicians of the country across 6 cities – Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Chennai – to share insights on how data analytics is the most promising career of the future and what working professionals can do to build a successful career in analytics.

Amid the impact of automation resulting in job losses, IIIT Bangalore along with India’s leading online education platform UpGrad has taken the drive to build awareness about the infinite number of opportunities in the data analytics space.

As per a recent study, India is featured among the top 10 markets in the world with high demand for analytics and data science professionals. Through the roadshow, IIIT-B and UpGrad plans to reach out to working professionals about how Data Analytics is shaping the full spectrum of industries – from mainstream sectors like retail, BFSI, insurance to e-commerce to unconventional industries like casinos – sectors which are ripe for disruption by analytics, where these next 100,000 jobs are coming from, and what measures can one take to build a successful career in analytics as well as existing career options.

Launched in Bangalore, the road show targets to reach out to more than 30,000 professionals across IT, Banking & Finance and Retail industries for over 25 analytics events – webinars, workshops, conclaves, and hackathons across  six cities. More than 40 industry and academic experts from IIIT Bangalore, Gramener, GenPact, Analytics Vidhya, Roadrunner, Tata IQ, UpGrad and more are part of team to interact with the aspirants and guide them.

Prof. S. Sadagopan, Director, IIIT Bangalore said, “Analytics is a huge opportunity for India, from wealth and jobs creation standpoint and we need to be prepared to capture this potential. In this pursuit, we are delighted to announce this roadshow and the IIIT-B UpGrad PG Diploma program to help professionals gear up for the analytics wave that is sweeping the country across industries. I am sure this roadshow will provide data aspirants just the right push to accelerate their careers in Analytics.”

Adding to this, Mayank Kumar, Co-Founder & MD, UpGrad said, “We, at UpGrad, have always had a forward vision when it comes to training and upskilling working professionals. Keeping this vision in mind, we partnered with IIIT Bangalore for a year-long Data Analytics program. We feel that, in the years to come, no industry will be left untouched by data sciences or analytics. The profession is already in demand in many parts of the world including India. Having said that, there is still a major gap in the demand and supply of industry-ready professionals in the field. Many who are looking at Analytics as a profession are posed with many questions with regards to the possible job options. With this roadshow, we aim to address these questions and hopefully reduce the demand-supply gap.”
