Hyderabad:  Indian Institute for Technology (IIT) Hyderabad has invited applications for admission to PhD programmes in its 13 Departments.  The various disciplines available for admission into PhD are as followed:  Bio Medical Engineering, Bio Technology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Design, Electrical Engineering, Liberal Arts, Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and  Physics.

The last date for submitting the online application is 30 November, 2016 ( 4:00PM IST).  Interested candidates will have to submit applications via online on the official website of IIT Hyderabad: http://www.iith.ac.in/ 

Category of Admission: For Regular (Full-time) program, candidates should not be employed in any organization. Self-sponsored / Industry-sponsored Full-time program PhD admission is also available.

Selection Procedure: Shortlisted candidates who meet the minimum educational qualification will be called for written test/interview. The PhD admission notification released by IIT Hyderabad informed that the Institute reserves the right to call only the requisite number of PhD candidates based on qualification and suitability.  The written test/ interview will be conducted in the month of December, 2016 at IIT Hyderabad campus.

Fellowship:  As per the PhD admission notification, candidates selected in the regular category will obtain monthly fellowships as per IIT Hyderabad norms. Candidates selected in the self-sponsored / industry-sponsored category will not be provided with any Institute fellowship.

For eligibility criteria for each stream, candidates should refer the PhD admission brochure. The Department of Liberal Arts offers PhD programme in the following area of specialization: Economics, Linguistics, and Psychology.

The reservation of seats in admissions for SC, ST, OBC categories and for persons with disability (PD) will be as per norms laid down by the Government of India.
