New Delhi: National Institute of fashion Technology (NIFT), an institute of design , management and technology,  invites applications for admission into its various courses for the academic year 2017. The online application has already started from 2 November 2016. The closing date of submission of online application is 10 January 2017. The written entrance examination for all UG and PG courses will be held on 12 February 2017 (Sunday).

The admission of various programmes are as followed: Bachelor Programmes (B Design) in Fashion Design / Leather Design / Accessory Design / Textile Design / Knitwear Design / Fashion Communication); Bachelor Programmes (B.F. Tech) in Apparel Production; Masters Programmes in Design , Fashion Management and Fashion Technology. For eligibility criteria, interested candidates should visit the Admission Prospectus  uploaded on the official website of NIFT.  http://www.nift.ac.in/  

Selection Procedure: The process consists of two-stage steps. First, the written entrance examination for all UG and PG courses will be held on 12 February 2017 (Sunday), across 32 cities across India. On the same day two tests will be conducted: GAT  (General Aptitude Test) and  CAT (Creativity Ability Test). On the basis of result of written test GAT and CAT, shortlisted B.Des candidates will be called for second test called Situation Test.  For B.F.Tech. candidates, GAT will be the final test for selection. The candidates for M.Des will take GAT and CAT. On the basis of the result of GAT and CAT, in the case of M.Des. and GAT in the case of M.F Tech and MFM, candidates will be called for Group Discussion/Personal Interview (GD/PI).

GAT will comprise of various sections as given below: Quantitative Ability; Communication Ability; English Comprehension; Analytical Ability; General Knowledge and Current Affairs

Creative Ability Test (CAT) is administered to judge the intuitive ability, power of observation in concept development and design ability of the candidate. An important aspect of the test is the creative and innovative use of colour and illustration skills.

NIFT is an education institution of the Indian Ministry of Textiles, offering courses in textile and leather design, technology, management and fashion technology.
