Mumbai:  The Great Place to Work Institute has released second edition of 50 Best Companies to work in India for IT and ITES sector. Among the 50 tech companies, Google, Mocrosoft, SAP, Happiest Minds, Cisco, and NetApp have been featured.   This year, in India, 145 organisations in the IT & IT-enabled Services sector undertook this assessment and participated in the best workplaces list – India’s Best Companies to Work for in IT & ITeS, 2016.

India’s Silicon Valley, Bengaluru, is the most popular location for headquartereds among India’s best tech companies for work. Out of these 50 companies, around 24% companies are based in Bengaluru. Chennai is in the second place where as Noida in the third place. The top 50 were selected considering an assessment of employee perceptions based on the engagement survey and a review of company practices by The Great Place to Work Institute.

The report mentioned that the size does not matter when it comes to the best work places in the tech sector. Half of the assessed companies were medium sized (employee strength between 500 to 5000). Surprisingly, the study found that the medium sized companies have the highest representation among Top 50 companies.

Startups outperform the established companies in employee engagement survey. The study highlighted that most of the companies in this assessment had more than 5 years of operations under their belt. Yet, compared to established organizations, the startups in the study offer a better experience in all respects, with the top areas being fun at work, responsibility & empowerment, management accessibility, fair promotions, and demonstrated caring. There are only two areas in which established organizations offer a slightly better experience than startups – pride in terms of social responsibility and work-life balance. This proves that startup culture has remained alive despite many hiccups and challenging environment.
