The logistic industry plays a key role in managing the flow of goods from origin to its destination. The logistic industry is a part of supply chain management that implements and controls the efficient, effective, forward, and reverse flow of goods & services, from manufacturer to storage space, to customers.

Nowadays, there is extensive growth in the logistic/ transportation industry, the worldwide net worth of this industry is over 4 Trillion Dollars. There are several packers and movers Delhi who also offer logistic services. It is evident that the transportation industry is growing rapidly, but it needs a boost in terms of technological innovation to enhance this industry. Here is the list of few technological innovations widely used in other countries, which will be adopted in India soon to enhance the growth of the logistic industry in the country.

  1. Drones: Drones are the mile-stone in the logistic industry, it has done many promising deliveries till now. Doren delivery is the most used technological innovation used across the globe, especially in the pandemic situation where the product must be delivered on time, but at the same time, person-to-person delivery can spread the infection more. Dorne delivery was first used by Amazon within England, they say it is the most cost-effective and safer way to deliver products.
  2. Self-Driving Vehicle: This technology is still under perfection, as it has to overcome certain obstacles, such as improving driverless software as per Indian roads, managing heavy traffic, etc. However, it is one of the logistic industry innovations which will be used in the near future. From a long-term perspective, logistic businesses must be prepared to adapt themselves to upcoming technological advancements with the help of AI, starting with self-driving trucks, self-navigation management systems, etc.
  3. Wearable Technology: In the near future, this is going to become a ‘must have’ technology in the logistic industry, as wearable technology increases speed and reduces human error in warehouse order picking processes. This technology is widely used in Germany by big companies like DHL, etc.
  4. Robotics: Unlike any other innovations in the logistic industry, robots are also the most widely used innovation across the globe. To stay competitive with other companies in the market, the e-commerce industry used robotic technology to improve its speed, efficiency and serve customers effectively.
  5. Automation: Just like robotic, automation uses data-driven software to improve operational efficiency in organizations. It offers a variety of solutions for the logistics industry, from advancing packaging, labeling to streamlining storage space sorting systems. Fully automated container terminals and computer programmed stacking technologies to be introduced in India soon, to increase production, improve handling performance, and reduce labor costs.
  6. Radio-Frequency Identification: These RFID chips have promised real-time tracking information, soon they will be adapted not only in the logistic industry but also in the movers and packers in Mumbai industry too. Many OFD (out for delivery) companies have invested a lot of money in Radio-Frequency Identification, they have yet to see a real ROI from the technology. But compared to Radio-Frequency Identification, barcode labels are well-established and the most preferred choice of people as its relatively cost-effective.
  7. Chatbots: This innovation is already adopted in many Indian e-commerce, logistics, and other industries. Chatbots automatically answer and resolve all queries of the customers, but chatbots are not that popularly used innovation in India, as people here prefer talking to the customer care executives directly, rather than talking to a robot. In countries like the USA, UK, etc., chatbots are the most popular innovation.

There are several other technological innovations that have already been widely accepted and used in India like digital money (UPI payment method), One-time password (OTP), and many others. Technologies like the digital twin, anti-theft GPS system, cloud-based system, etc., are under the testing stage and not that popular. The Indian packers and movers industry is also contributing to the growth of the logistic industry.

We hope that the points we have discussed above have provided sufficient information about the technological innovations to be adopted in India in the near future, which is going to have a huge impact on the growth of the logistics industry in India.
